Best oil filter for Synthetic oil

I am about to change over to amsoil synthetic and plan to go about 10,000 miles on it. What is the best oil filter to last that long? I appreciate any help in this matter as I hate to spend a lot on oil and end up with a junk oil filter.

Well, don't get the Amsoil filter. A couple of members on here recently blew their engines up due to faulty EA057 filters. I have to say Amsoil stepped up and bought them new engines, but what a pain it still must have been to get them to write the check and they had to come up with the $$ to have the dealer fix it and wait for reinbursement from Amsoil.

I have used Mobil 1 extended life filters for years and they're great.

Well, you could just change your filter every 5000.

I use the Purolator PureOne filters, they've always stood up well to dissection.

Mobil1, Purolator Pure1, and Amsoil filters all rank pretty high in the independent studies (those not funded by the manufacturers).

I run Purolator Pure1 filters in all of my vehicles exclusively.

OEM filters generally fair pretty poorly in the tests and standard Fram filters are junk.

Unfortunately NRR, there isn't "one" study that shows this. Key word I used is generally.

For the most part if you want to lift the lid on a given OEM filter you need to dig for that specific maker. In general the OEM filters I have compared fair lower than their counterparts made by Purolator or Mobil1.

Now it should be noted that everything I have found in recent searches show that both the Toyota and Subaru OEM filters are quite good. Those two consistently stuck out from OEM sources. However if you take all the OEM filters from Astin-Martin to Yugo and rate them against the top aftermarket filters I'm sure you'll find that generally OEM filters are outperformed.

The oil and filter debates will go on forever but one thing I do know (and live by) is that the Pure1 is consistently in the top 3 of the heap AND I can buy them for everything I own.
