Best Pet Barrier? Also, tire question.

Hey guys. My dog (Australian Shepard/Queensland Heeler) will be in the Runner a lot. When it's just him and me, he'll sit shotgun. But when there are other people and dogs in the truck, I'd like to keep them in the cargo area. I'm looking for a good and sturdy pet barrier. I've done some research and have some options in mind, but any first hand experience with pet barriers would be great.

Also, I'm currently on the hunt for new tires. I'm still doing the research, but I figured y'all could shed some light on tires you've had good experiences with. I'm looking for a good all around tire. It seems like the Cooper Discoverer AT3 is a popular choice.

I have this. It's in my 3rd gen right now. it tends to slip so you have to tighten it very tight. Also it is behind my cover just incase it tries to slip. but it's nice and i'm glad I have it because when I go to the dog park and he gets muddy... it's much easier to put him in the back than have him over my seats.

It's safer for your dog to ride in the back seat because of airbags. Mine doesnt ride SG anymore and she doesn't seem to mind. Ymmv

What are you driving? If you have a roll bar you could use a net from the bar to the back seats. cheap solution and little fabricating.

I use this in one of my cars that has cloth seats. It is ballistic nylon with a rubber back. It works good and doesn't have the heavy chemical smell of others I have tried.

On the runner, I made a bench that slides in or out between the front and rear seats and used one of the Toyota cargo nets between the front seat backs as a forward barrier. I'm looking to find something a little more substatial than the elastic netting soon like maybe nylon web.

I always worried that in a quick stop the dog may end up down in the passenger footwell and injure itself trying to get up.

I got this one from Petco (about $100). It fits pretty well and has a door that opens in the center. Adjustable sides and uprights. It is not visible in this photo, but it does go to the floor. It had a slight rattle from the door, but I split a 3" piece of 1/4" ID vacuum hose and slipped it over one of the bars around the opening to give it a snug fit. Rattling gone.

I got it of CL but it is a Petco brand barrier. I just did a little work to the gate to keep it quiet from rattling around but other than that I love it. It is strong and sturdy.
