As my title suggests or asks, where should I go? Dealership or independent? I've never had a good feeling with aftermarket windshields..they always seem cheaper quality to me.

The maker and other info about the windshield is in one of the corners of the windshield. If you go independent (which is what I would do) all you have to do is make sure the part they are putting in has the exact same info. The parts are from the same maker and are of the same quality.morphius909 said:

Dealership vs Auto glass shop
I don't know about where you are located but we are the installers at several local dealerships... Many don't have their own glass technicians.. Now there can be some advantages to going to the dealership in our situation and that is that most will give you a loaner car.. Plus because we value their business they maybe able to get your vehicle scheduled faster.. As for OEM vs after market... Honestly there are a few vehicles that the aftermarket glass is just slightly off the Tacoma back glass slider for example it doesn't fit right we tell you that oem is required however the stationary back glass fits great! In my opinion, if u have a less than 3 year old vehicle and insurance is footing the bill then go for it. if you have to pay for it out of pocket... Consider the facts that aftermarket is significantly cheaper and many oem parts are well over $1000, that it is glass and could break again under the right conditions, many of the manufacturers are also producing aftermarket glass as well. Glass shops are able to get many aftermarket oem and mopar parts. They can be pricey but more reasonable than OEM via the dealership..
