Best portable vehicle NAV/GPS

I'm looking for the best portable GPS/Navagation unit. I also have a blue tooth phone and using a scion hu(for possible hook up to vehicle speakers).
I'm looking at the TOM TOM 910 but there are so many others out there so I wanted advise from user experience.
Mounting the unit is another concern. It seems a windshield mount is the only option for the 4runner.
Any advise will be appreciated!

Initially I was interested in the Tom Tom 910, but I'm currently interested in the Garmin Nuvi 670.

garmin nuvi is probably the best portable nav you can get. i have a tomtomgo 700 and my sister's nuvi 350 is much better and easier to carry around. go for the 360 if you want bluetooth.

I do on the road sales and I have a Garmin I think it's a model 330 anyway it's not the most expensive model they make but I have yet to get lost when I use it so I guess it works.

I have both the TomTom 910 and the Garmin Nuvi 650, my wife uses the Garmin and I use the TomTom and I prefer the TomTom for the ease of use and the features, but everyones like and dislikes differ so I recommend testing them out to see which features you want.

ive sold a ton of these, TOMTOM is ok but i always see them come back to the stores..they lockup, alot..

I own a NUVI 350 myself and i love it, if you are looking into bluetooth, like mentioned before, the NUVI360 is your best bet..kinda tough to find latley though..

Online is your best place for them if your looking for cheap, however if you go into a retail store...you can get a service plan, that will allow you to get a new one, right then and there, if it breaks..

Or a NUVI660 or higher would work (but cost is an issue)..the bigger screen, anti-glare coating, traffic reciver, FM Transmitter, and the updated user interface is worth the price diff

The new 660 and up models are nice, but they bigger screen (which is awesome btw) makes it harder for "portability"

Thanks for all the replies. I think I'm going with the Garmin Nuvi 360 for the Blue tooth. All the on-line ratings are good too plus I wanted to stay in the 400-600 range.

I had originally purchased a TomTom 910. I liked it the first day. The 2nd day, not so much. It completely locked up. Reset it multiple times, and it would lock up shortly after reset. So, boxed it up and took it back.

Ended up getting a Nuvi 360. No problems yet.

true, if you have a phone that is capable, then it's easier than buying another device and having to carry that around.

i have a holux usb-sized bt gps reciever that i can put on my keychain, and tomtom 6 installed on my treo. hey, i carry my phone with me all the time anyway, why not morph a gps device into my phone so i have less to carry around?

Garmin Nuvi660. It tracks and locks in satellites very fast. My only gripe is it's slower than the OEM Toyota nav at recalculating routes if you miss a turn. But it's a large improvement over the Magellan Roadmate700. The Nuvi660 is very similar to the Magellan Maestro 4040, but I found the 4040 to be very slow flipping between menus.
