Best price on OME?

OME install on 87 (previously Best price on OME?)

I'm usually over on 3rd gen, but I'm about to buy the full OME kit for my wife's '87 and would like to know who is the best source for this at the moment? (I usually order from RockyRoad, fwiw.)

Thanks in advance for tip/suggestions!

Thanks for the referral!

I ended up going with RockyRoad Outfitters again on this one; had to add the OME GS3 (greasable shackle kit) and a couple of the OME 181469 (bushing sleeve) to their full boat kit to build it out to the same package that CruiserOutfitters offers, but ended up saving a little over $230 with RR.

I went ahead and ordered 1.5" Ball Joint Spacers also, looking forward to getting the fully-cranked original bars and original saggy leafs (being propped up with the ZUK mod) off of this thing!

Well, the OME stuff is here (part of it):

All the OME stuff is in, and so are the ball joint spacers, and most of the bushings & ball joints up front.

Front wheel bearings should arrive before the weekend also.

Well, got started on the Zebra this morning:

My wife bought this truck for herself earlier this year, and immediately put tires on it and I aligned it for her, but otherwise it is as-purchased.

The seller told us the bilsteins were new, and that he'd had a lot of service done during his ownership, and that looks to be true.

The body is a wreck on this thing, but it runs well, has a great interior, and is mostly original (which had been challenging to find), so we'll deal with the body & rust down the road.

The front of the truck is severely twisted, and although the majority of it is above the frame, the passenger side bump stops are mangled - so I wanted to go through the suspension and see how much of the lean is due to a bad torsion bar (or something else up front) before I started pulling on the front sheet metal.

Here are the fender heights (drivers side first):

This truck has tired original leafs with the 'Zuk' coil spring helper mod (I'm not a fan.)

It also has metal/metal contact on the shackles, creating a cacophony of squeaks and creaking during use, so I ordered a full battery of OME stuff for the rear.

Here's a squeaker:

And the leaf coming out:

One side done, and here's the money shot - much more down travel than the OE/Bilstein/Zuk alternative:

So that's just under 3 inches measured at the frame rail.

Also, I opted for the U-bolts expecting to have to cut the old ones off (I didn't, actually) - but I'm lucky I did as the leaf pack is thicker on the OMEs and the stock bolts would have been short!

And more squeaks to be fixed with the new shackles.

Rear complete, front up next.

And on the front, a similar gain in down travel when moving from Bilstein to OME:

And the OME torsion bars are larger diameter also, can someone do the spring rate math on that for me?

Luckily the torsion bars are both keyed AND have different size splined ends, so it's impossible to misassemble them.

- and that's enough for today; time to go Saturday with my sweetheart.

So the a-arm bushings beat me up yesterday - and I didn't clear the lift before the beginning of the week (business problem.)

Today, however, with the help of my business partner I was able to complete the bushing replacement on the passenger side (the side that had a previous incident that folded up the bump stops), press out the upper ball joint studs for the through-bolts that come with the spacer, and reshaped the folded bump stops with the oxy-acetylene torch - around regular business activities.

No photos, unfortunately.

Tomorrow starts with welding up the bumpstops and reassembling the front end stuff..

BTW, where is the ECU on this thing? I want to unplug it before I weld (I've had an issue in the past when simply disconnecting the battery before welding on a car.)

Yeah yeah the 4Runner is nice.

Holy shit that shop and the things in it. What a setup and what a collection!!
