Best replacement antenna mast?

Well my replacement power mast lasted about 6 months. Is this one of those parts that the Toyota part is the only good one or is there a good aftermarket brand?

Yes, only use OEM for the mast. I got mine off amazon for a good price and it's lasted 4 years and going strong. Again, make sure it's from a yota dealer.
 
Several of us have used masts from an e-Bay seller named raderra. Mine has been working perfectly since the original was replaced in April 2012. Other e-Bay sellers sell masts that don't work. See this thread:

Start at Post #8 and see mine at #12. Don't pay rip-off dealer prices for a mast when a good replacement can be had elsewhere.

I bought the more expensive one from Amazon. Came in a toyota package. It was really tight in the beginning but after a week of using the radio it goes all the way up and down.
 
Could also do the Tacoma whip antenna and never worry about it breaking again. That's what I did and I like the way it looks better actually.

I've got it fixed for now. I took the mast off and the long gear had come loose from the mast. I removed the gear and extended the mast and used pliers to give a squeeze at each joint. Now the motor runs for a few seconds but without the annoying grinding. The mast just stays up full time.

Or there is an alternate antenna built into your rear window you could use. Just requires you to plug something in behind your radio. Easy and cheap and you only lose a little reception. That's what I did because I go through car washes a lot and I'll be damned if one of those are going to rip my antenna off and slam it against my car because I forgot to turn my radio off before going in.
 
I have a new mast and the power antenna unit. I was in the process of rebuilding the entire unit but decide I really wanted a solid stick.

My OEM antenna mast lasted about 12 years. That was decent longevity IMO, so I bought a new OEM antenna mast for about $40.00, and spent maybe a half hour installing it myself.

I don't like having an Antenna mast sticking up to catch on trees, etc., all the time. Plus, IMO a Tacoma whip just looks really cheap.

That was just one of the obvious signs of de-contenting, that turned me off to the 5th gen when it debuted.

For those that are using the antenna mast from the ebay seller raderra, have they still been holding up?
