BEST Side Window Deflectors?

Ok, so reading your posts (thanks for replying, by the way) the Weathertech-style protectors slip up INSIDE the door frame where the window seals shut. Id imagine that should someone REMOVE them afterwards there would be some "play" where the seal isnt tight, but my concern is more precautionary:
Wouldnt the combo of window + seal + window-deflector = more work on the power window actuator, or even stress on the lifters that raise and lower the window? (im having flashbacks to my old 2000 Jetta's windows turning crooked and then falling into the door with a THUNK while on 95 in Rhodey. Scared the crap outtah me!

My question (or concern) is.... how much "wind noise" do these visors make? And which ones are worse for noise?
I test drove a Dodge Dakota when looking at 4Runners and it had window visors (no idea what brand) and I couldn't believe the wind noise with them (even some minor "howling" ort "whistling").
I hate road noise so I don't want to add even more wind noise as well.

I have the Wades, which are the same as the Weathertechs. I don't notice any "extra" noise from them. They are low profile.
The stick on ones stick out even further and might cause more noise, but I'm don't have experience with those.

WeatherTech in-channel
WeatherTech in channels w/ dark tint. Install was easy, although the rears have 2 sided tape to help them stay in place, so make sure u are fast, deliberate, and adjust them quickly before they set. After installing each one, I rolled up the glass to help seat them. This was scary at times bc the Windows didn't want to roll all the way up and auto roll back down, and there was a horrifying "cracking" noise as they seated and everything squeezed together. No actual cracking. Overcome this by rolling the window up to the edge of the deflector and stop. Then pulling up on the switch and holding it until the window fully seats at the top. This helps to trick the auto roll down feature that helps to save little fingers from getting crushed. A second set of hands to help push the glass up also helped a lot. Do this 4 to five times until everything seats and your good. It's a tight fit.
Quality product. Low profile. Looks great. Works great. A bit of constant "shhhhh...." Wind noise at speed. Not bad.

My WeatherTech in-channel visors haven't given me any issues in the last five years or so. They even survived a pretty wicked hail storm at the end of July... $7200 in damage to the 4Runner though. The insurance adjuster was shocked that the visors weren't all broken! I'm not sure if less expensive versions would have held up as well as I've seen a lot of broken/cracked visors around town. I'm guessing that WeatherTech uses premium materials with excellent UV stabilizers because my visors look just like they did when I installed them. I've seen other brands that look chalky and have fine cracks through them after they've been installed for a while.

i like the jdm ones, if you were to replace it, the wellvisors.com are similar, and only 50 or so for the set, i like the weathertech for the looks, but once it falls out, i never went back to buying them again.
I like these.

I just put a set of AVS on my 4R and the fit was pretty good for me and the 3M tape lined up perfectly. Maybe you just got a bad set.
I had a set of AVS in channel deflectors on my 3rd gen. Even though they had 3M tape for the channel on hot days they would block the front windows from rolling all the way up. I won't buy in channel deflectors ever again.

I've had the WT in-channels for a few months now. Great fit, only very minor noise when rolling up my now-aging drivers side window (regulator or motor probably on its way out, but still pretty tough). I like the way they look better than tape-ons. However, I'm tired of the wind noise, so I'm ordering a set of Wade tape-ons to try out. I believe it may be the seal between the WT & window glass. The fix would possibly be to add a strip of rubber to the top of window glass for a more airtight seal...but I'm not gonna do that! :tongue1:
