Best tires for 17" rims and 3" lift?

I am about to switch from a 16 4Runner rim to a 17" tundra rim 7.5 x 17.

I started looking up tires to put on them and saw this for the Yokohama Geolander A/T-S:

265/75/16 = 10.5" x 31.9" I think this is the size I have now in the BFG M/T KM. No rubbing at all.
265/70-17 E = 10.5 x 32" $154 tire
265/70-17 D = 10.8 x 31.9 $125 tire on tire rack. This is the on I am planning to get.

Would a 285/70-17 fit without rubbing? That one is a Firestone destination AT at $166 each. Measures 11.5 x 32.8

Is there another tire I should consider that can compete in price, ride, quality?

I'm going to an AT because i drive mostly on street, occasional off roading, and lots of mountain winter driving around Lake Tahoe. If the road is open I'm going....

Suggestion welcome. What is the biggest size I can put on the 17" rims and not rub?

It is generally accepted that you can fit up to a 33" tire with a 3" lift.

if i was you id get a tire like the BFG all terrain or the good year wrangler dura trac. they both have the mountain snow flake on them(snow approved tire). i grew up in the tahoe area and an know how the cops and caltrans can be with snow and chaining up, they dont care if you have 4wd, a winch, ect if you dont have chains or snow tires they wont let you through. yeah they are gonna be more $$$ but you get what you pay for in tires. also dont buy from the tire rack, unless you have a tire machine in your garage. by the time you pay for shipping and then mount and balance you have paid way more than you would have at america tire or some of the other bigger tire stores. and dont get an "E" rated tire, you dont need it, you 4runner cant tow that much anyways and your ride will suck -it will be super stiff. i would go with the 285 70 17, you shouldnt rub, i am running that tire(a maxxis bighorn, but in that size) on a non-lifted 97 4runner sr5 and only have minimal rub at full lock and only a slight bit more at full flex, you will be fine with it.

I have the Goodyear Dura-Tracs, in the 285/70/17 size. No rubbing up front but hits the rear mudflap bolts while flexing. They have been good for what off roading ive done so far and did great in the snow and ride nice on the street.

It is generally accepted that you can fit up to a 33" tire with a 3" lift.

It's going to have toytec 3" springs in the front and LC 7.5 wraps in the rear. It's getting new shocks all around. Expecting 3" in front and hopefully 3-3.25 in the rear.

I do really like the Dura-trac's. The BFG AT's wear quickly in my experience.

285/70-17 would be good. The Tire Rack warehous is near Reno so I can pick them up and save on the shipping. A buddy owns a motorcycle shop so I can get them installed for a reasonable price and then just take them to a local shop for balancing and mounting. I also typically use tire rack just for pricing and comparing specs then buy locally from a shop if they get close to the price and reasonable on mount & balance.

i havent ever really liked any of the sets of BFGs that ive ever had either. but a lot of people like them. i dont care for the look of the dura tracs but everyone loves them and i have nothing bad to say about them cause ive never ran them or seen them in action. i personally really like the new good year MTR but they are a wee $pendy

BTW I think you need to update your sig line there... different tires than you put above.
