Best Tires for All around after Ultimate lift...

Hey there.

I work up in oil and gas country in Alberta and am ordering the ultimate lift. Just wondering if you could throw out some ideas for a great tire that looks awesome but also does well for off road and on that can stand up to a ton of driving after the lift..... Thanks alot!

Already have 265/70/r16 but some runners here look deadly with the bigger tires!

I don't have a lift on mine but I have plenty of room for my 265/75 Duratracs and after 14 months and almost 10k miles I have zero complaints and have been great on and off road.
With your lift you should be able to go with 285s.

Maxxis Bighorn M/T's are awesome and reasonably priced. Firestone Destination M/T's have treated me well too but I like the maxxis slightly better.

BFG M/T's are good performers too but you run the risk of going out of round with the BFG's in my experience, so it's a crap shoot with those. I had it happen to me with a set of M/t's and also A/t's. Had the same problem with Goodyear MT/R's too so I steer clear of those two brands now. Just my experience. Sucks cause those Duratracs look nice!

I have been very happy with my Nitto Terra Grapplers, however in Alberta you will have some good snow and that is where the NTG's are just ok or adequate. I have almost 40k on mine and have plenty of life left in them. Look into the Duratracs as mentioned, BFG AT KO's for all terrains that perform well in all conditions.

I have the Ultimate Lift and went with Kumho Road Venture M/T 285/75-16's. Very happy with them on and off road. Set at 35psi on highway they offer great control and aren't very noisy. Then when dropped to 20psi they are extremely aggressive off road. Best bang for the buck.

I got GY duratrac 265/75/16D for the snow, I've been in three winter storms so far and I'm really happy with how the tires work on winter roads. They hold the road well even in 2xdrive.

One comment about the ultimate lift. I had to lower the front coilover an inch to get the truck level and it rides way better now

Nitto Trail Grapplers. Very nice m/t with a nice aggressive tread with good on road manners. Just picked up my set 295/70/17.

I've got the Maxxis Bighorns in the summer, and in the winter, I run Mickey Thompson ATZ's. The Mickey T's are great in the snow, so long as you get a narrow enough tire they should be great for you! I believe a few members here are running 255's in 16 inch wheels, which basically give them a tall/skinny tire. This would fill your fenderwells, but give you the narrow footprint you need for good snow traction. Wide tires look great (ie: my Bighorns) but in the snow, not as good as my narrow Mickey Thompson's. By the way, mine are tiny at 245/70/16, but I've seen a Jeep recently on "Gearz" with Stacey David on Spike TV, and he was running them in what I believe was 35" or 37" size, they looked great! I'm sure the 33" will look great, and perform great!

I have the Maxxis Bighorns in the tall skinny size (255/85/16). I'm very happy with them. they get a 10 for off road and an 8 in snow on my scale. They don't compare to the Duratracs in the snow, those get a 10 (but probably an 8 off road). The Duratracs simply can't be beat in the snow IMO (except for the Dunlop Maxx Tractions which are made by Goodyear too).

if your in oil country means your pretty far north right? the goodyear dutra trac is the only tire of it's kind that has the Canadian sever weather rating for snow and ice, beyond that here in seattle they handle the rainy roads like nothing, i have a hard time trying to break them loose on purpose much less when just driving around town.

Well after working at discount tire for the past 10 years I feel like I have seen every mud/all terrain under the sun. Bfg km2's look good but are awful in any kind of snow or ice. I have the Goodyear MTR KEVLAR. and I have to say I have run coopers, bfg's, yokohama's, mickeys, and others but the MTR's by far have out performed everything. They are expensive. But they are worth it. As far as mud/all terrains going out of round you have to be careful with the maintenance they require more rotations and making sure your alignment is on the money. Anyways. The dura trac's that everyone is talking about is a nice tire and good in the snow but it's softer than some so it might only go about 30k. Anyways hope this helps good luck

My Duratracs are quieter and smother than expected. 265/75/16 tires fit with plenty of room w/stock suspension.

I just ordered the Ultimate Lift too and I plan to run Duratracs on the 4Runner. I have a set of Duratracs on my Tacoma and they have impressed me so far. They are an awesome all-around tire IMHO.

My dad has these tires on his T100 and they have also been pretty good so far. This truck is a farm truck so they are used offroad 99% of the time...he hasn't got himself stuck yet but personally, I don't think that those tires look very aggressive.

Went with the terra grapplers last summer. After 10k miles..the wear is good.

Had our first good snow on x-mas. I had zero problems. After 10 in and a major amount of ice on the roads...the Nitto's are highly rccmnded.
