Best way to disconnect rear swaybar?

If I wanted to disconnect the rear swaybar to add a little more flex while offroading (not while on the street obviously) how would I do this? Does someone have a picture of how to do it, or where the disconnects are?

Disconnect the rear swaybar at the end links. One end link per side. The swaybar itself is bolt to the rear axle in 2 spots, so by diconnecting the end links will not totally remove the sb. You can also disconnect the front swaybar in the same manner if you wish.

If you feel this is something you plan to do often while offroading, you may want to look into a set of front and rear quick disconnects. With these, you do not have to unbolt each end link every time you go out and then rebolt them back up when you are done. Instead, quick disconnects have a pin you can pull to disengage the swaybar or insert the pin to engage it.

Oh and the rear end links are located right in front of both rear wheels. The top of the e.l. is mounted next to the frame, while the bottom of the e.l. is connected to the swaybar.

Awesome thanks for the step by step. Where is the best place to get pins for easy reconnecting of the SB if I want to take them on and off?

You cannot buy a simple pin to disconnect your swaybar. You will need to purchase a set of quick disconnects instead. They bolt in place of your oem end links, and when connected to your sb, will act just like oem end links. However, they have a slot built into them which holds a steel pin. When this pin is removed, your sb is freed.

You may have to search the web for toyota quick disconnects, but I know I've seen them advertised for sale some where. If you're unable to find them, you may have to make your own. I've also seen that done before too.

Oh okay yeah, I didn't think that it would be that easy anyways. I'd love to get those pre-made disconnects but I do not have $300 at my disposal right now, nor do I see having that anytime soon. I'm almost scarily low on cash. Oh well. I can just disconnect them and leave them in place for now if I decide to, but thanks for the links

yeah they're pricey, but people swear by them. Speed of removal does come at a cost
