I bought a 97 4Runner about a year ago. The previous owner had installed a Tundra adjustable Bilstein 5100/TRD spring front lift and a LC spring rear lift. One of the 5100s failed a few weeks ago, so I replaced them with new 4Runner 5100s. The lift in the front is now over 3 inches, and the CV angles are atrocious.
I have decided that I really don't need that much lift, so I don't want to deal with the hassles and premature wear that comes with it. I'm a backpacker and rock climber, so my 4Runner is used mainly to get me up to the trails. I rarely do any wheeling with it, but I'd like a to a little extra height over stock so I can continue to run my 265/75 Duratracs without issue.
Which spring combo is going to be best to knock my lift down to 1.5-2 inches? I like the ride height of the OME 881/890 combo in Rickashay's OME vs TRD comparison, but he was running OME shocks on the front. Can I get a similar height with the 881 on my 5100s? Will there be a significant difference putting in the 890 springs in place of the LC springs?
Any advice or suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
