Best way to remove the pin stripe?

Its a 2008 beautiful Shadow Mica and it has this disgusting stripe thats chipping off. How do I get it off safely? :barf:

I had one on my car and I just peeled it off with my fingers and goo gone. Can't even tell it was ever there!

Auto paint stores sell a round rubber eraser that you chuck into your drill. It will get it off.

Caution, it can remove/smear/grove the paint if you go too aggressively.
Age of the stripes will also make a difference how hard they are to come off.

this one is baked on. you can chip off with your finger nail but it would take for ever.

Mine was on for over 11 years and the vehicle lived outside. The eraser took it off quick.
I did grove my paint a little but not bad. I'm so happy without the stripes!

Ya I don't trust myself with the eraser.... anything safer? someone said hair dryer but if its chipping off I would think the glue is gone? :nono:

You really gotta let the eraser wheel sit in one spot for awhile to mess up your paint. It's perfectly safe, I've used eraser wheels to debadge chrome and take off glue from vinyl I had covering my rocker panels for years. Took awhile but it is definitely better than going it by hand

Yeah I had the same thing. I made myself spend 30 minutes a night on it for 2 months before it was gone. It sucked! but it was worth it.

I had the same exact striping on mine. I finally talked myself into picking up a 3m stripe remover (the rubber eraser) to try, even though I worried about it marring the paint, but it took me literally less than 15 minutes and you'd never know it was there. Definitely recommend that route. Just be gentle and consistent, you don't have to muscle it at all and it doesn't hurt the paint.

I would avoid any kind of abrasive. Use a finger nail and WD-40 and take your time.

I used laquor thinner and a plastic spatula on mine. It left a shadow of a stripe since it's un-faded compared to the rest of the paint, but I kind of like it...

I did this last weekend to my '04 that had the same problem. I tried a few things. A buddy of mine works for Lexus and had the rubber wheel at work but its a good 30 min drive one way. I ended up getting a pin stripe scraper from harbor freight. A pack of 4 orange diff sizes for 14.99.

Just heat up the pin stripe, I parked in the sun for a while and it was ok. Scrape off the pin stripe and then I went over it with some 3M car adhesive remover I had laying around. It came off clean. Now the paint has a very hard to see difference where the pin stripe was....not very noticable. Then clay barred, and did a two step wax on the truck....Those last steps were just because I wanted to. lol

I love the pinstripe on my black truck. But it definitely does hurt the appearance of other colors. Aren't all of the pinstripes dealer installed? They should do that after someone buys it and with their consent.

Tried the heat gun and it didn't help (plus a friend who builds and paints bike frames said your going to scorch the paint and with the eraser wheel too)... Took 3 hours (cloudy day) my 1st try to get a foot and half off. Then today after my bike ride I stared picking away at it and got the rest of that back passenger panel of in about 20 mins!!!.... about the same amount it took 3 hrs before. I had been sitting in the sun for 2 hrs and I used the finger nail (I know I'm a *****) technique. So now I'm stoked!!... should have the rest off in about a week safety. :beer:

Spray Turtle Wax "Label & Sticker Remover" ... white can with a green top. The pinstripe will come off in a few minutes in all areas. Spray the entire stripe one time from end to end...wait 5 min...get a rag and wipe it off. Then wax the area where the stripe was...DONE!

If there are any tough spots, spray them, use a hair dryer and then use a credit card to push the stripe up and away from the paint and then wipe it off with a rag. This will also remove the emblem adhesive from cars VERY well!

Got my 92 year old aunt Gertruda to help. Shes a cleaning fanatic. As you can see she was so in to it she didn't even put her purse, cane or jacket down, She got the whole side off in 1/2 hour. :jaw drop:
