Beware of this Ebay Seller

I recently purchased a rear bumper guard on ebay and it was listed as applicable to the 2003-2006 model years. Guess what? The brackets did not work on my 2006 due to the change in the tow hitch design. I looked under on 05, with a hitch over the weekend and it was clear that the bumper guard mounting brackets would work on that 4runner. The box even listed on the side that it was for 2003-2005 4runner but I opened it up based on the listing saying it would fit an 06.

Well mr. seller has been non-responsive and I have contested the charge on my credit card. Tomorrow, after waiting the mandatory 10 days, I will dispute the situation via paypal. Since the buyer is the one that made the mistakes, I am refusing to pay to ship it back and I am asking for my shipping charges to be refunded. The user ID of this poor seller is "suv-protech". Stay away from this seller as he seems not to care.

Dude, I am with you, I have a list a mile long of eBay sellers to beware of!!! I had some bad experiences like that. Oddly enough in most of the cases I was the only person that had problems with some of these so called sellers. My advice is to give them 3 to 5 days to respond. Most of these guys that sell five or more items a day get overwhelmed and cannot hold it together and get behind really fast. eBay does not care because these sellers bring in the money for them, paypal and the rest of the guys collecting their small percentages through-out the selling/buying process. I am not sympathizing with them, hell if they cannot handle the load they do not need to be in the business.

It is frustrating I agree and it makes you want to go and find the seller and well you get the idea. I had an issue with one seller that took me seven days to get a hold of, and it was the two phone calls a day type of operation, but it was worth it after I got a hold of the seller. The seller sweetened the deal and I ended up keeping the original product he sent me and then he sent me the right product, so I ended up getting two products for the price of one, and neither one of our feedback results got damaged, which is usually what happens because the seller waits for you (the buyer) to leave feedback, basically holding your feedback hostage in case you are not satisfied and leave negative feedback.

Thanks for the sympathetic post. Your comment about ones rating not getting hurt gets to a problem with ebay that makes it easy to cheat; not leaving feedback promptly. By not leaving feedback, eneryone essentially holds each other hostage with the threat of retaliation with negative feedback. I wish ebay would require sellers to leave feedback as soon as payment is received instead of allowing sellers to require feedback be left for them before they will leave it. Ebay and paypal are looking out for themselves and I don't expect much help from either in resolving my dispute. It will be interesting to see how my credit card company handles things............

Well, for what it's worth, it will fit an 06, only if it's a V6. I had the same problem with my T & H bar and I eventually had to have it custom welded to the hitch, as I have the V8, which comes with a weight distributing hitch. I know of no company that makes rear bars for the V8. My 2. Good luck

I used to live in Golden, I am still up there quite a bit. Do you live there, work there, go to school there? Work at the brewery perhaps?

Hey Outrnnr,

I actually work in Evergreen and have a Golden address, but am located in the foothills. Living outside Golden proper helps avoid lots of sales tax when buying a car.

Situations like this are a good reason to avoid ebay. A lot of sellers will demand you ship the product back to them even though it was their mistake that caused the problem. This is on top of the fact that they claim they will not refund your original shipping charges. So in my case I spent $45 to get the guard out to me and then the seller expects me to spend another $30 to $40 get it back to him.

I had tried to get the same guard from Burtman Industries, but he was 8 to 12 weeks out. Anyone need a rear bumper guard for a good price? I may look into the welding idea if all else fails.
