BFG All-Terrain T/A KO2 went on sale today

I ordered from Costco online first and had them delivered to Costco. The Costco I went to didn't try to convince me to buy Michelin. They just flat out refused to install any tire, regardless of brand, if its larger than stock size. Costco said 255/60R20 is the biggest tire they would be willing to install on my limited 4R.

Costco also said when I return the tires, the tires will just sit in the warehouse for 6months. Twice a year, they do a massive tire return back to wholesaler.

Yep, their policy is not to install tires outside of the size printed in the door.
 
In Oct when I got my 4R, had to order from Amazon cause costco couldn't even get them in.. had a local place mount and balance. Just hit 7k, an had costco rotate and balance for like $23. Had to pay cause I didn't buy the tire from them.
Actually going back today as they have 2 in stock that someone didn't end up buying.. gonna do the spare so I have the same size all around... in hawaii it would take a while to get one in, so better to have a same size spare..
 
got a set of 4 265/70/17 bfg ATAs Load E mounted and balanced including lifetime rotation at Merchant's for $1000.48. Love the tires and they look oh so sexy.

Why did you go load range E when you could have ran load range C in that size? I am just curious, you added about 8lbs per tire going with E.
 
Added security when off roading. As far as the weight, I don't notice it and based on the Toyota interface I'm still getting 19 mpg. Also my transmission temp is still on avg around 170 degrees Fahrenheit. I would be curious to see what transmission temps people are recording with 275 and 285s...

I was also told that they would only install the factory size tire on my vehicle. No problem. That's what I asked for in the first place! That department has a few people that are deaf and dumb.



One of the other tire associates did however share with me that he heard that Costco of California had been sued by a Ford Range owner. The tires that were put on his vehicle were larger than the OEM tire. When his truck developed transmission problems while under warranty, he went back to Ford. Ford advised him that he had voided his warranty because the larger tires caused the transmission problem. :roadkill: When he threatened to sue Costco, rumor has it that Costco paid for transmission repairs and consequently will no longer will sell/install oversized tires for trucks. I have no idea if this is true but it came from a Costco employee in the tire service department.

Myth. Most large stores like Sams, Sears, Costco, etc won't do it because that adds liability on top of just installing the tire. Your local mom and pop shop can do it because if they screw up and you sue them what do you get? Nothing because that's what they are worth. The big guys stand to lose a lot more than they make by installing a few plus size tires.
 
Has anyone put this on TRD wheels? Any balancing issues with them? Took 3 shops just to get the damn Bridgestones balanced :(
 
so what PSI is recommended for these? just got some from Discount Tire, they put 35 in all of them but that sounds kinda low.
 
[MENTION=144979]ToyoDriver[/MENTION] 275/70 on the trd wheels. looks like they used a lot of weight on a few of them but They drive very smooth. Running at 45 psi

I gave up on Costco and went to Discount Tires as everyone in this thread recommended. DT installed no problem and no fuss! They even price-matched Costco previous promo. $992 total installed out the door for 275/55/20. Add in the $100 rebate and $892 isn't bad!

However, I am rubbing a bit. I rubbed on my previous setup 285/50/20, but it seems like I'm rubbing a lot more. I have KMC Addict XD798 20x9 6x5.5.

Any suggestions?
 
Are these in 275/70 the flavor that most people are running these days? I always thought 285/70 was the route most were going.
