not been made for a long time, probably like 7-8 years now, good luck you will have to find a used set and if they are good they will want a pretty peny for them ie not worth it as you can probably buy new tires for what someone will want for the oldschool BFG muds. i like them too but not that much, i dont know why people think that a set of 80% 35x12.50x15 are worth $1200... -that was that last set i saw for sale

There is only ONE size of original BFG KM M/T still being produced: 255/75R17. And that is because it is still the OEM tire that is on the Jeep Rubicon trim.
Other than that, you basically can't find them. If you do, they are used quite a bit, or not a full set. When one of my old 265/75R16's from my green truck got destroyed (long story), I was able to sell the remaining 3 tires for $150 each....because they were so rare.

These are the closest thing you're gonna find that resembles that tire.

I see the BFG KM1's on craigslist from time to time as race take-off's because of SoCal's desert/ baja racing scene, but more often than not they're in a 33x10.5x15 :shrug:

These two tires do look awfully similar to the KM. I really like the BFG longevity and quality, do you have a comment on the quality of the above tires??

Nitto Trail Grapplers anyone?
I don't have any personal experience with nitto truck tires. Alot of people around here run their terra grappler series tire and are pleased with them. I do however have some experience with Nitto street/drag tires and I've been happy with them. Then again it was on a mustang and they were drag radials so durability wise I wouldn't have a clue .

^ those have relatively few sizes available and were SUPER expensive. Last i looked they only had sizes in the 17" plus wheel range

Super expensive? Probably so. My drag radials cost about 230 a tire for a 315/35r17 size. But I remembered the Trail Grapplers not coming in many sizes like you said so I looked it up for kicks and they do come in a 285/75r16 as well as two other 16 inch rim sizes.

ameining, the Toyo's are highly regarded for quality. I don't know about longevity. If I was in the market for brand new 285 M/T's my short list would include:
-KM2's ( I know you don't like them)
-Toyo MT
-MT Baja MTZ

I had a set Of 285 Toyota MTs on my last truck. I ran those things into the ground, and they lasted forever. I didn't offroad, just street driving. They got to be kind of loud towards the end. I had then for almost 4 yrs on my daily driver, then sold them for $150 when I got new tires. They are definitely worth the money...it just happens to be a lot of money.

Never tried the Toyo's personally, but have heard they're expensive. I just switched from a Cooper A/T to the BFG A/T's (apples to oranges when comparing M/T vs A/T, I know). Cooper's were ok, pretty run of the mill. I've had a few sets of BFG's, so I myself understand the loyalty to the brand.

Yeah, to make people think they need new ones so they spend money on stuff they don't really need. Yes, in poor conditions (on vehicle OR off), anything over 5-6 years can compromise the tire. Mostly dry rot. However, if stored in a cool dark place, or simply not driven on very much and regularly garaged, tires last a lot longer than 6 years.

Just bought some 285/75/R16 KM2's on Monday. They are an awesome looking tire. Very aggressive. However I swear they are smaller than my BFG KO's. The 285 KM2's look like 31's.

There will always be exceptions, and i am the guy that runs the **** tires that are well past due, but i would not tell someone to run 6+ year old tires. But normally the way people drive and store tires, that stuff is not something you want on your car. I'm not talking about tires people have had on their car for a few years that are now 7 years old, i mean the guy that is going out and buying a set of tires off CL that have full tread left but at 7 years old.
