BFG or Goodyear?

so.. after finishing my tax returns.. I have some extra cash to spare on my rig..

the problem I ran into is the age old question.. BFG A/T or Wrangler Duratracs..

I emailed BFG and Goodyear about the 265/75/16 in load range D's.. (waiting for their reply)

I done some research on it but mostly I see the 265/75/16 in either load range C's or E's.. but I haven't seen it in load range D's yet..

currently, my rig spends most of the time on the pavements with mild offroading.. the tires I'm running at the moment are BFG A/T in 265/70/16 in load range D.. I'm at 65k with the BFG A/T with some treads left..

I can't decide which tire to run...

How are the Duratrac's in the rain? anyone ran the tire to 50k plus miles? how are the Duratrac's on pavement?

Would load range C be enough for my rig or should I opt out for E's? I haven't seen 265/75/16 in D's..

I have BFG 265/75 load D's, but I got them used from an FJ. I don't believe you can get them in a D unless used or an older set off a FJ. You could get Treadwrights which have D or C.

For the Duratracs you should get C.

BFG AT/S 265x75x16 is ~ 31.5" tire and will keep a decent MPG.

Well..

i finally got replies from both of them..

The BFG A/T doesn't come in Load Range D..

and the same for Goodyear.. the only Load Range D's are in the following sizes..

LT285/70R17 |------|
| [ ] |
|------|LT315/70R17

choices...

I might go with Duratrac's in C's instead of E's.. since I don't carry an trailer most of the time..

just curious... why does everyone care about the load range (d) on the bFG AT/s ?

It is a great tire. The load range thing is a wives tale.

Trust all of us who run them with no problems.

I don't carry a trailer most of the time either, but when I do I want to know my tires can handle it especially in an emergency situation or if I have to travel a long way on the highway. But then again I pull an enclosed trailer, a fish/ski boat, and haul tools and lumber regularly.

is rare for me to carry an trailer.. maybe once an year (if even)..

I haven't rode in an car with Load Range C's yet.. that's why I'm curious about the ride quality of C's vs E's..

I just purchased a set of 285/75/16's in a Goodyear Wrangler Duratrac, Load Range E, and I was scared at first, but my ride is very very good!! Took my first trip today in it since the tire install, about 200 miles, and I loved them. Just my 0.02 though.
