Bi-Xenon HID Retrofit by Lightwerkz

I'm am so happy I found Lightwerkz.

I have a 98 4Runner and wanted to do a retrofit. I did a quick search online for "Brooklyn HID Retrofit" and found a local guy who gets good reviews from a lot of the lighting forums. His prices were reasonable, and outside of a handful of vocal online guys complaining about him, he generally got good reviews. So I took a shot and had him redo my lights. The turnaround was good and he did a good job on the headlights, but post-sale support was absolutely miserable. I had several issues and his response time after he sold me the lights was often times days. Most recently, my lights stopped working altogether, and I simply couldn't drive the truck at night until it was fixed. I won't name names, but if you do a google search for the string above in quotes, it's the first result.

Enter Lightwerkz. They were recommended to me by The Retrofit Source.

I worked with Cesar and he was absolutely, positively a joy to work with. I want you to think about this... how many times have you bought something online or from one vendor, had a problem with it, and needed to take it to another shop to fix it? Now how many times have those shops said, "sorry, we only warranty/work on products that were purchased directly from us." Lightwerkz was the exact opposite. I called him at 4pm on a Monday and told him the issues I had. He told me no problem and told me to bring it in the next morning at 7:30am and he'd take care of it.

They are about 45min from Brooklyn, so I figured I'd have to drop the car off and figure out a way to get back there either later that day or sometime later in the week. Nope. As soon as I got there he stopped what he was doing, had me walk him through what I had done to the car, and boom, he started working on it immediately. Come to find out, the Morimoto ballasts that were sold to me were an old version, and he said he'd happily give me the new version of the ballast for FREE.

Wat. Are you kidding me? Let me get this straight, I was sold an old product from a completely unrelated company, and you're going to GIVE ME the new version of it, for FREE, and you're going to take care of the warranty claim on your time and dime? Who does that?? This is customer service, ladies and gentlemen.

I was in and out of the shop in under and hour. Everything is fixed and working great. He even aligned my headlights for me. Everybody in the NY/NJ/CT area should know about this place. If you're looking to get your headlights redone but were too nervous to take the jump, look no further! I've owned a ton of vehicles (both SUVs and track-ready sports cars), and this is one of the best shops I've ever worked with. This place is fantastic and I highly recommend them to everyone.

I've purchased HIDs bulbs and HID foglight kit from Cesar when I had my M3. He's definitely a great seller and stands by his products.

He's pretty well known in the BMW community. All his retrofits are super clean.

Great to hear. I'm glad he has a good reputation on some other forums

Looks nice, how much they goin for?

Looks great. How much was it?

Don't be shy. It's polite to share here!

Also what kind of kit did you go for?

Haha, ok ok. So I went with a set of FX-R projectors, Morimoto ballasts (I was sold the old DSP ones, and Lightwerkz gave me the SS ballasts), and Morimoto 3Five bulbs. The total cost of the retrofit was $615. Lightwerkz charged me around $100 to clean up the issues I had (fix the ground, clean up the wiring, fix an issue with the housing, diagnose that my ballasts were bad, etc) and align the bulbs. And he gave me the new Morimoto SS ballasts for free and took my old DSP ballasts off my hands.

I wish I knew about Lightwerkz originally. I would have much rather given them the business and had the piece of mind that everything would have been done correctly the first time around. Plus he can do a ton of customization.

What was really awesome was he didn't even try to upsell me on anything. I asked him if I needed better ballasts, or if I should upgrade the bulbs, etc. He said, "listen, why don't we get what you originally paid for up and running before we start upgrading stuff. you haven't even had the chance to enjoy what you paid for."

honesty. it goes a long way.
