I got pulled over when I had 20% over 5% on the front windows. Now I only have 5% and haven't gotten bothered at all. Blair has never gotten pulled over with his 5%.
15% is the general comfort limit with police. They can still see how many people are inside, even though they can only see silhouettes. Once you get to 5%, you'll get pulled over eventually.

So you guys have 5% fronts, and i presume you probably put like 35% on top of the factory rear?
Well Im thinking of re-changing the tint on my CRV, since Im not sure if im going to return the 4R when the lease is up. I have a 22ish% rear sides factory... and I put a 15% rear window and 35% fronts..
Now I just want to match the front with the rear but all the shops are highly suggesting me NOT to do it... but I personally think 20% isnt even dark, compared to your guys' 4Rs..

Here's the product of double limo tint on a bright sunny day. It doesn't get any brighter than this, and it doesn't penetrate my tint one bit.

Sooo... with the current tint you guys are using, not much law enforcement trouble with it? Honestly, I would LOVE dark dark tint like you guys, but I really am not in the mood to risk it since I still have till Nov for my 18 months from the last ticket i got for driving w/o seatbelt hehe...
And I heard that sometimes cops may give you more than just a fix-it ticket so i dont want to risk my insurance for the moment..
But I really just want a 35% over the factory rear, probably change the back window to 5%, and 20% front... and just keep my 4% visor... Sound too risky??

Cops can not give you any more than a fix-it-ticket for tint, Josh would know
, so no worries about insurance. It's just a pain to get it signed off. A fix-it-ticket won't go on your record, it's as simple as getting it signed by a police officer and paying something like a $10 processing fee. And your plans for your tint don't sound too risky. I see many people with 20% and so rarely see people pulled over for tint, especially 20%, they have too much to worry about with people like Josh and I!

You should be fine.
But do what you're comfortable with. I don't want you coming back to me if you get a ticket. Like I said though, 15% is their comfort limit. 20% should be fine since it's even less. You can see through both windows with 20%.
If they give you more than a fix-it ticket challenge it. They can't really do that. They tried to pull that on a few of my friends who have lowered (almost scraping the ground) cars with dark tint. In CA it's a fix-it. That's all their is to it, no cop can decide to change the law on a whim.

I see... Gosh.. Well I guess it's area dependent. Lately I've noticed two cars (one girl at school and one client of mine) they both had, oh maybe 35% fronts and lately it DISAPPEARED from both cars! :bash: So I'm really wondering if they're cracking down on front tint in my area.. And there's also a raised Tacoma at my school, not as dark as you guys with 5% front and his tint disappeared also..

I guess it does depend on your area, but also if they have no other reason other than light tint to pull you over, I doubt they would. In high school there were always guys getting in trouble for tint but it was usually because they were doing something stupid that attracted attention and the tint ticket was just one of the many outcomes of their stupid behavior.
FWIW, I drive a lot (I am at 27k miles on my 2008) and have yet to have a tint ticket, knock on wood.

Ay my goodness gracious! lol... Hmm.. Well I think in a couple months I may just darken my rear ones, and put 20% on the front.. My area seems a little prone to getting pulled over for tint even though Fresno isnt really known for super strict enforcement of CA laws..
Only thing I hate is that I live like a mile away from a new cop station... and the funny part, the city built a new cop station in a decent, good part of town :cursin: :headslap:
Otherwise I normally always roll down my front windows when I see a cop and there isn't a lot of cars around me hehe

Wait, I dont know if this will make a difference in a cop's choice, but I just realized you two have front license plates on! :headslap: lol... I have no front license plates on any of my cars...
Wonder if that will catch any attention if I darken the windows?
I really wish 3M had the Magic Black tint like they offer in different countries. Not TOO dark from the inside, but practically impossible to see inside from the outside.. (aka my Vacation car in the Philippines)
