Big bear run this Sunday-Now with Pictures!

Going on a trail run Sunday approx 9:45am via 1n09 up Clarks grade into big bear via Fire roads.

Meet point is mill creek ranger station on hwy 38

PM if you'd like to go so we can coordinate!

Trail is relatively easy ( Fire road) a stock suv/truck could make it without much issue on clearance. Nice views and good food up in town.

should be a fun run, there are other locals going up, most havent been before but time wise if we depart mill creek at 10am we should be into big bear id say 1 the latest based off and trail rest stops/pictures/ etc.


we can grab lunch in town or if you choose to head out you can do that too!

Comms will be HAM/CB/Cell

i dont have a CB but other rigs do( working on putting one in) i do have a HAM. we will discuss comms at ranger station and make sure everyone is good to go.

dont forget water/oils/straps/tools!
 
Looks like a good trip, I`m interested and checked the Forrest Service site, hope it`s old info:

Forest Road 1N09 is closed to all use. For more information please call the Mill Creek Ranger Station (909) 382-2882 (closed Tues/Wed).

Fees Adventure Pass Required $5/day or $30/year. Interagency Passes also accepted. For more information, please visit our recreation pass page.
 
Bob, I saw the same listing regarding the closure. Called the Mill Creek station and was assured the closure is only for the shooting area. Both trails are open. Let's do this!

Thanks for calling! Les is correct the shooting areas are closed but the trail up is currently open and ready to rock, I'm hoping the last rainfall didn't make Clarkes grade to much more bumpy but it does happen!
 
Just talked to a friend of min with a 3rd gen and he's interested in going. So barring something coming up I'd say were a go :)

Long day at work today. Short version is I'm still planning on going Sunday. Won't be able to check in again until Saturday evening. I know exactly where the Mill Creek Ranger Station is. Well, unless it has been moved in the last twenty years (not kidding).

GMRS 2 way radios work well too. I'm bringing 2.
 
Calling for great weather in big bear tomorrow at 74°


Had a few other guys PM me to go, so hope to see you all there 9:45am! we will leave the ranger station by 10am!
