Big Tires?

SO my dad bought a 89 4wd truck and it came with some pretty sweet wheels and tires. He doesn't like tham and I was wondering would they fir on my 4runner. The tires are 305/70/16 on a 16x10 wheel! Are these too big? What size tire could I use on these wheels? I don't know offsets or back spacing, but are they too wide?

it will stick out past the wheel wells. to keep the 305 you will need a lift. you might need wheels spacer. also what truck are these coming off cuse chevy/dodge truck have different bore size, but same lug size. (6x5.5 i think) if you do run wheel spacer dont worrie about the bore size.

The wheels are coming off a Toyota truck. So how much of a lift? I was thing about teh Sonora2 Steel 2" lift, you think that would be enough?

get the SS 1.5 kit and a 1" body to clear, you can do some inner fender cutting and modding (within the realm of stock looking) and get them to fit without a bodylift.

The 1.5 kit is for 4wd only according to their website. I know why lift my 2wd? I don't know I guess for looks unless I need it to clear these wheels.

Okay so the tires are off my dads truck and I am really thinking about putting them on my 4runner now. I rolled them up next to my truck and it looks like i will definetly neeed to lift it up. So assuming I do the lift, should I regear as well? They are 305/70/16 and my 4runner came with the upgrade 16" wheels. I daily drive my 4runner so I am wondering how much these wheels and tires will effect my driving.

It's not necessary to regear but your gas mileage will significantly decrease. I was around 300 miles a tank with stock tires and now I'm around 230 miles with 33's which is roughly the same size as your 305's.

305/70/16 are equal to 35"s, im pretty sure. with a 3 inch lift you can fit 33"s, so with another 2 or 3 inch BL you could fit these size tires. But you would def. want to re-gear to either a 4.88 or a 5.29. Without regearing your gas mileage will go down and also power since its a 2wd?

285/75/16 and 305/75/16 are both 33's. The 305 is just wider.

The SS kit is good. I didnt buy mine from Steve because I was able to piece it together over time for a lot cheaper.

I currently run 285/75/16 Nitto Terra Grapplers on stock Limited wheels and dont have any issues with it. Only rubs the upper control arm at full droop. Its not that much of a problem anymore now that it is the tow rig for my 1st gen truggy.

Re gearing to 4.56 could be an option.
