Bigger spare tire fit?

So I have read a few post about spare tire sizes. Searched a few pages but haven't found my answer. Thanks for your help in this matter. My question is will a 265/70 17 terra grappler fit in my spare location. Its an 07 sport v6 with xreas. I installed the DS 2.5/1.5 a while back and am ready to purchase the spare if it will fit. Has anyone installed this size in the factory spare location? Thanks.

My 265/70 R17 Goodyear Fortera fits under the truck no problem.

I do not have the XREAS but I doubt that matters.

Yes they will. I have these tires in this size with no lift and they fit just fine. You basically have to lay on the ground to maneuver the tire into place but it does fit just fine.

I've got a 255/75/17 spare, it's taller than the 265/70/17. I've read where a 275/70/17 will fit, haven't tried that size personally. Some report fitting a used 285/70/17, but most can't. It all depends on your hitch. As I understand it, there v6 might have a little more room due to hitch design. If you don't have a trailer hitch, you can get by with larger.

Thanks for the reply. I do have a hitch on my V6. Just trying to plan ahead. Would rather keep the spare in the stock location than putting it up in the basket on top of the rig.

I was thinking of going with 275/70-17 after some sort of lift (OME or perhaps just a spacer lift).

How do you like the 255/75-17 tire?

I like the 275/70/17 size, only problem is there are hardly any tires available in that size. I've been considering that size for when I buy new tires, just no options there though. I love the 255/75/17's. It's taller/narrower than the 265/70/17's, works really well. In most cases it's cheaper, and I noticed no loss in gas mileage switching from stock tires (big plus for me). Most with 265/70/17's note 1-2mpg loss. I have read where some with 255/75/17 have lost gas mileage, but doesn't seem as bad as with the 265's. Only thing I don't like is that while there are more tires available in this size over the 275, still aren't as many as the 265/70's. I really wanted Duratracs, but they don't come in the 255 (as with several other popular tires).

Thanks for the breakdown on those tires. I'm a ways away from making any purchases, but I think it is just good to plan ahead for things as costly as tires.

265/75/r16 goodrich all terrains fit with about 3/4 inch gap to the rear bumper.
