New to this site, I've had my 4runner for ever but now that I have a big boy job I wanna make it good for some off roading in the south. Anyone know the biggest tires you can fit on the 2001 4runner limited? Also since I am new to the after market feel free to let me know the companies you like.

Thanks

The '01 and '02s sit the lowest out of all the years of 3rd gens and 265/75 is the biggest you can fit and it will be tight w/o taller coils.

from the 265/75/16 you can also fit a 275/70/16.

Here you go:

Get some 265/75s on an agressive tire and they will look bigger than they are anyway.
Cooper STT or Wrangler DuraTrac

Currently running 265/75/16's no rubbing yet. Goodyear wrangler territory's, not a bad tire so far.

Thanks for all the help. Lots to think about. Starting to consider a 1inch body lift to get the 285s in there....

you'll need more than that...

I had 2.5" spacers and had to do another 2" BL to keep it from rubbing. Also with 285's make sure you have a lower offset wheel, or else the tire will rub the UCA.

If you really think about it, though...how much can you really flex out a truck sitting stock on 33" tires? Not much. Way less than you can with 31's or even the stockers. Stick with 31's if you don't want to lift it.
There are hundreds of threads like this and we all say the same thing, and the n00b always disregards which leads to hundreds of "ugh now I'm rubbing" threads.
Yes, the idea with building a truck is to fit the biggest tire in the lowest truck, but we've all learned from experience that to fit 33's (285) you should be running at least a 3" coil kit and 1" Body Lift(if you don't want to pound/trim).

I've seen a third gen running 37x10.5 tires on a 2" Tundra coil lift...but he cut the piss out of the entire truck and it looked like balls.

In the end, it's your truck, and you'll do with it what you will...just make us proud.:driving:

I totally hear you, I'm probably going to go with the smaller tires. Thanks for all the advice. I don't want to f up my truck in anyway.

I agree with LINY. This talk of fitting 285s with a 1" BL is bologna unless you never intend to off road it. You will rub on everything from tight turns to potholes. Like he said, you can cut and pound the heck out of it to make it work, but I can still rub my tires with 4"+ of lift. Just get 265s - even with those you'll probably get a little bit of rubbing in an '01. If you want 33s, get a 3" suspension lift and you'll probably want to do a 1 or 2" body lift in addition later to get rid of that last little bit of rubbing.

Limited...stock wheels? stock height? and are you keeping the running boards on? I installed 265/65/17 on my 00 sprts with a -12 ( I think) offset wheels so they stick out a bit and it rubs on the running board. Had to trim it a bit on both sides.

real world info

new here and just bumping this thread up to see if anyone has been using the 265/75/16 duratracs with no rubbing on stock suspension during off road use ie potholes and other large drops?

seems like people r running them without rubbing and some are. i have a 2001 sport and am up grading the tires soon. do i need to remove the running boards to make these work?

any info is appreciated.

I run this size on my stock '99. Doesn't interfere with anything on or off road.
