What's the biggest I can go without rubbing? I currently have 265/65 R17 as stock-- has anyone replaced their stock tires with bigger tires w/o having a lift? I just want to fill up the wheel well.
A search should have yielded an answer as tire questions are the most frequent, but I'll just say that a 265/70 or 265/75 is going to be your max without some lift or trimming.
I run a 265/75 but had to remove the plastic inner fender well and pound back the lip that extends out. Reinstalled the inner plastic and all is good. After I did that the rubbing stopped. The 265/75 look much better.
No pixs sorry! but there is a lip where the 2 pieces of sheet metal joins under the plastic. When you remove the 3 bolts and drill out the pop rivet that hods the front mud flap you will see it. I used a pair of vice grips to bend it over and then pounded it flat with a steel hammer. It only rubs when I have 4 people in the truck. Reinstall the plastic and the mud flap and it all looks stock.
