Bike rack options

Hey all! Curious what you guys use for bike racks. Roof mounted? Trailer hitch mounted? Anyone done an interior rack like the Nissan Xterras have? Pics would be greatly appreciated too.

Thule 4-bike hitch mount. Not fancy, but it does the job. 13 years old, and going strong. It's not a fold down, but I can manage most stuff through the window. Back in 1999, I wanted to take the bikes in the new truck, and this was the only hitch rack in stock at the local bike place.

I have used all different kinds of bike racks and realized that no one makes what I want so I will have to build it myself. I currently have a Yakima roof rack with a combination of Viper and Steelhead mounts, but since my truck is lifted and I'm only 5'9, it's a pain getting them up there and they make a ton of noise. What I plan to make is a hitch rack that uses the Viper and Steelhead mounts but sits higher than most hitch racks so I can go offroad with them still back there.

what kona is that, and what is the other bike, rocky mountain?

Dont have my 3rd gens any longer. The roof rack was a pita at 5'8 LOL. I am currently using a Swangman that is great especially at $150.
I also have used tie downs with the loops in the cargo area.

Good eye! My Rocky Mountain Element 70 and my wife's Kona Kikapu Deluxe. We wanted full suspension but also wanted the lightest bikes we could afford. These work great for cross country riding. I sold off most of my other bikes leaving me with a hardtail I never ride (or when I do I wish I was on the full suspension) and a rigid single speed that I only use for commuting.

i almost bought a rocky mountain, i love their bikes. but i ended up building a hard tail frame i had -kona kula. i had a FS kona mono mono, but ended up splitting the frame(years of xc racing on a bike that really wasnt designed to race), kona comped me a new frame and i went with a hard tail this time around, much better for climbing and 80% of all other riding i do.

Not to derail but I loved my kula supreme. Kona makes great bikes.

Front Bumper Mounted Bike

I like the idea of a threshold to mount Yakima Blockheads to. Much cleaner than a piece of wood. The only downfall is I would go insane adjusting my seat and installing my front wheel every dang time I loaded/unloaded. Less load/unload time=more ride time!

I use a Yakima Bighorn 4 but only rock 2 bike capability at once. This allows for more spacing between the bikes. I then use a 36" bungee between the wheels to keep bars straight and wheel from turning non-stop. I have considered roof mount for easy rear access but where would I put the Kayaks?? Such bad problems to have...
