Bilstein 5100, 1.75 and 1" Spacer Alignment Issues.

Guys I just Bilstein 5100 installed (front/back) by a local small shop along with 1" cornfed spacers in the back. Prior to the install I stated multiple times that I wanted a printout of the alignment numbers. After about 4 hours of waiting the mechanic said it was finally done and the algnnment is within spec . I asked for the printout, he said he already shut down the computer and cant get the printout. He said if I want the printout he has to setup everything again and it would take ankther 45 mins. I agreed to wait.

Another hour passes by. I was starting to get the feeling they were BS'ing me. He finally walks in with the printout and it is not within spec. He starts giving me the run around. I said I would be taking the 4r in to toyota next week and if they align it without any problems I expect my money back. He agreed.

I am not a mechanic but I am thinking they just dont know how to properly align it. I made an appt at a dealer for Mon morning. Printout is attached.

Has anyone else had issues with alignment on the 1.75 setting?

Those numbers aren't horrible, but it seems the tech could've done a better job if he really spent 4 hours on it. I have the same setup (1.75 with 1" spacer in the rear) and brought it to a mechanic I trusted. He was able to get me Very close to 3.0 caster on both sides. I believe I'm at 2.7 caster and nearly 0 camber and toe if I remember correctly. Im also on stock upper control arms and it took him about 45 minutes to dial the specs in. My vehicle drives straight and no vibrations.

Thanks for the reply. I am pretty sure the dealer will be able to align it properly.

And I am not exaggerating, they literally took about 5 hours.....

Agreed. I run this setup and the shop who did my install got it fairly close, but not perfect. It drove straight, felt good, and had no issues. Had it at the dealership for some other reasons later on, told them to go ahead and check alignment (as we have some horrible roads in this area), and they aligned it to specs, if I'm not mistaken (but then I gained back a tiny rub). Again, drove straight and no issues. (Stock UCAs FYI).

Point is, it may not have to be perfect to be usable and (not) wear/tear the tires. But it should be close. Some shops are better than others at aligning... research enough on here and you'll see the various results people have gotten. I would say biggest input is how close they actually got to being in specs, and your personal "feel" when you drive it. If it drives good, feels good, and they are close on specs... I would just drive it for awhile and keep an eye on your tire wear.
