Bilstein 5100 lift (pics)

I had some Bilstein 5100's installed up front so my tires wouldn't rub. Got about 2 1/4 inches from the top setting on the shock.

They ride a lot better than I thought on the upper setting. It's not too stiff, yet there isn't too much roll in turns.

I'll try to get a side shot tomorrow. After driving it around it's settled just a little and the drivers side is about 1/4 inch lower than the passenger side. I'm assuming this is fairly normal with older stock coils?

do you have a lift in the back at all? and did you install and set your shocks up to 2.5 inches yourself or did you have a shop do it?
i am very interested because i have these shocks but at stock height and wanting to lift them up some

The rear end is stock and most likely going to stay that way. I've always liked the nose-high set ups.

I had a shop do it since I recently had surgery and won't be able to lift / spin wrenches for a while. I needed it done ASAP because my tires were rubbing and Off Road Warehouse gave me a fair deal on the shocks, install, and alignment.

If you have these shocks, I suggest the upper setting. The ride quality is pretty good, but may be slightly stiffer than your current setting.

I ended up going to Off Road Warehouse. They had a Saturday appointment at the El Cajon location, so that's where it was done (otherwise I woulda went to the one on Balboa Ave off the 805).

They charged me $200 for the shocks, and around $300 for the install/alignment). Out the door it was $500. I'm sure someone is going to say I got raped, but those guys know what they're doing and you have to get an alignment anyway.

I think 4Wheel Parts wanted around $350 for the install, but I don't think that included alignment.

Does anyone know where I can get the stock front mud guards that line up with the flares? I want to take off the running boards, but I don't like the way the flares just end.

I got my mudguards from trdpartsforu.com. They were $67 for the pair. I tried the dealer, but they couldn't figure it out. Easier to just go thru that website!

Good luck...and I think that rear needs to be lifted a tad. But looking sweet otherwise.

Dealer matched trdparts4u when I ordered mine. They're pricey but gotta do what you gotta do... and I 2nd the comment about the rear. Sagging too much but looks good besides that

wow thats a good amount of lift for your truck. looks good. does anyone know if you can use the 5100s at highest perch setting with stock springs + a top plate spacer for an overall 3" lift? im thinking about going this route as opposed to getting new front lift coils AND shocks.

This is about all the lift I'd want max. how do you adjust the struts? The mounting base on the strut moves upwards? gota pic?

Do the shocks you purchased have this adjustment ring? And they are the stock replacement shocks right?

So I looked it up online and saw its a snap ring you place in the gooves of the strut body. I'm having a hard time finding a site that will give me a part number...I keep hitting a road block with bilsteins website.

After searching for a while I found this part number...can someone confirm it? 24-186711
