Bilstein 5100/OME or OME only for V8

Goal: level front/back with about 2.5" front lift

For the V8 Sport with XREAS (daily driver), which one:
1. Bilstein 5100 all around with OME 885/895e
2. OME Sports shocks with 885/895 & Driver side lean spacer
3. Did I miss any suspension lift for under/around $1000

Cost difference: $690+/- vs $900+/-

Which do you like or dislike it with the V8? I don't have plans for a bumper/winch, and don't haul anything yet.

* Yes I've tried the Search feature and wasted hours trying to narrow it down

I'm running OME 884 springs and Bilstiens 5100 x4 on my V8. Rear 1.5" spacer rather than springs (Only because I couldn't decide on which spring I wanted to run) In retrospect, I wish I had gone with a full OME setup.

Well the ride isn't bad, I feel that the OME springs would be better suited to shocks that are designed for them. If you plan to off-road, the OME is supposed to be a bulletproof setup. I see more complaints about broken or leaking bilstiens than OME shocks.

885 is a 3" lift spring, use the 884 and 895E if looking for a 2.5"/1.5" lift.

There are other suspension options around under $1k, but these are prob. the most common and reliable combos (imo)

If you're gonna run OME springs, definitely get the OME shocks if you can.. They're valved to suit their springs better than the Bilsteins would be valved to fit the OME springs. I'm running OME 886's with 5100's 20160924_111352.jpg

How's the ride w/out extra weight? Planning on running that setup once I add my bumper

Another option - FJ springs, 5100 shocks and 1" rear cornfed spacers. This will give you a lift, fix the level and the driver-side lean but otherwise drive more or less like stock. If you're not adding weight, why bother with more?

Option 2. Running the 885's on the lowest setting on the 5100's gives you no advantage to having preload/height adjustable shocks. Get the OME shocks for a better ride.

If i were to do it again

id have gone OME 884/895e springs/shocks instead of OME with 5100s. Another good option is Bilstein 6112s set to 2.5"s up front paired with OME 895 springs/shocks or ICONs for about the same cost AND rebuildable.

I plan on full old man emu 885/895 with ome shocks on my 2003 with a v8. Waiting for holiday season and discounts from vendors on here!!!

So far it looks like OME's. Thanks for the feedback!

I wonder how many others are running this setup on the V8. How do you like it?

I'm among that group and have posted numerous times that it's just foolish to think making your own combination is going to be better than parts engineered by OME to work together.

51s & fj springs

:flamethrwoer2: only v6 but son's 05 no spacer been a perfect ride 2.5 up front ,275/70s :):brick: it was mine before so I set it up for me but we both drive the sh*t out of it handles great & it doesn't have that top heavy feel when cornering very positive ! :violin:
