Bilstein 5100 vs 6112 for daily driver

I have the 6112s

Hi all. I am replacing the xreas in my 08 4runner. I currently have the 6112 and 5160s in my 06 and i like the ride, handling etc.. with it. I was just wondering if its overkill for both being non off road vehicles. Would the 5100s with t1 and t12s be a better choice for the 08? Obviously the 5100s are much cheaper even with the springs. Is there that much of a difference? I just dont want to put the 5100s in and not be happy with the outcome.

and i like them b/c with the staggered c-clip settings the lean is practically eliminated and i like that the B12 coils are paired damping wise with the. I have mine set @ 2.13"

I Have the 650lbs springs on my 06 with the 6112s and the ride is really good. I also have the v8 in the 06.

What setting do you have your coils at and how much lift are you running. My goal is around 2.5" before I add the bumper.

I dont remember what setting I have but i did the 2.5 lift as i have a set of wheelers off road t12s in the back. I went one setting down due to the v8s weight compared to the recommended setting from bilstein.

That should get me close enough. Thanks man. I just don't want to preload the smoothness out of the ride. The roads out here suck in michigan.....I don't need them to suck any more because I have too much preload.

From my point of view, I actually enjoy the way my stock suspension feels with KDSS. What would you recommend to achieve a 2” lift without compromising the OEM feel? I want to avoid spacers because I will actually go off-road, nothing too rough but you never know what you’ll encounter.

Mike @ dobinson does sell KDSS compatible coils. Check in the 5th gen dobinson thread....to confirm

Definitely went with the bilstein 6112 setup and 700lbs springs. Rides great!

This is a good thread to get me thinking. My DD needs new front struts/shocks so I'm looking at all these options. I was leaning towards the 5100 since I don't mind a firmer ride, but now I'll have to look at the others.
