Bilstein 5100 question/opinion

I don't know where I should post this but I thought here would be best
So I am being sold these used bilstein 5100 owner does not know how many miles on them or how much can he get for these. I just want the 5100 for my 4runner because I will be pairing them with some Eibachs ... Are these worth it in your opinion or should I opt out wait for something else to come? Get some new ones?

I should opt out for something newer huh? Plus he doesn't know how many miles on them so it's a gamble.

Yea I would opt out exactly like you said. That's the common fail spot is on that weld at the bottom, and mine started out with just a little bit of oil and then look what happened...

You could always buy both for cheap and I'll send you that single good one I have so you have a spare haha

Haha yeah I rather wait then have those fail on me as soon as I put them on something lol

Sweet! Awesome man I'd appreciate it that :)

After seeing what broke GSPRunner's 5100 a couple of weeks ago I'd buy them both for $80 and keep them as spares for the brand new $200 ones from Toytec...

...Actually I'd never put a 5100 on my vehicle. I'm sure (I hope) it was a fluke, but hitting some small bumps on a forest service road going under 20mph should NOT snap the lower mount off of a shock.

Yeah I was going to buy some 5100s for my mall crawler 14 5th Gen but after what happened to me with my 5100 on my 3rd Gen, I don't think so.

I had a 5100 (tundra front, passenger side) snap in half at the lower weld about a month ago. I am running no front sway bar and no limit straps - wondering if you had either (bar or straps) when yours failed?

edit: forgot to mention for the OP - mine started leaking and looked just like that top one before the failure. Don't buy those.

Mine did the same exact thing. I've warrantied 2 also for leaking. I think for what I use my 4Runner for, they just don't cut it. Maybe if it was a pavement princess.
