Bilstein 6112’s/5160’s. I’ve got some questions

I’d like to run 6112’s at the 7/5 position for about 2.5 inches of lift and pair that with 5160’s and am looking for a level to very slight rake. The question is which rear springs to use? I’ve done a lot of searches and can’t seem to find what I need. Bilstein springs or wheelers? Maybe dobinsons or ome? Just looking for someone with this lift combo and what they used. I’ll be installing it on a 21 ORP without kdss or additional weight front or rear. Thanks!

I would say Dobinsons. They are the few that have multiple sizes from what I’ve seen. It seems that there is an OEM, and a 3” version mostly. Dobinson has the stiffer OEM size, and 1” more inch higher which is what you probably need. Maybe a combo of cornfed spacers and coils. Email the cornfed guy and ask. He is really responsive.

I have the same set up and currently lifted 1.65/1.75 3/4 C clip setting, with OEM springs in the rear and 1” cornfed spacer. 275 ko2’s

I’d like to go to 2” or even max them out, but then I’d probably need the drop kit and 285’s.

At that point I’d get control arms as well.

Bottom: 1.5” Wheeler’s T13 springs (which I still currently use)

The bilstein springs SUCK! They are super soft, feel like stock springs. The Wheelers springs are good for the rear. Ive never had a problem.

I am installing King offroad 650lb springs front, and Dobinsons 325 rear springs rear this coming friday.

I went with the OME 2889 Medium Springs. I typically don't carry a lot of weight. Might need something else eventually if I keep adding things....

I have the 7/5 6112's but w/the 650lb springs up front, Dirt King UCA's, and Ironman 4x4 2" HD springs in the rear. The 5160's are not valved strong enough for the HD springs, so will prob go to Kings at some point.

Also to note, the increased spring strength front and back give a higher stance. If you're going stock or medium load springs your truck will sit a hair lower. This pic the truck is basically unloaded except for prob 60lbs of tools.

I have the TRD Pro Bilstein 6112 upfront with the FJ TTUE ~600lb spring to yeild around 2.5inch lift with Bilstein 5160 in the rear paired with Eibachs 1inch lift coils and OME 10mm trim pack spacers to get me ~1.5inch in the rear. So far I feel the 5160s and Eibach 1inch lift springs match pretty well. I'm pretty close to stock weight though, no bumpers, sliders, or gear. I think the Eibach rear lift springs are rated at around 210lbs-ish ? or about 10 - 15% over stock spring rate. I do like the feel of the larger body shock in front over the smaller 5160s in the rear. I'll probably go with 2.5inch shocks for the rear if\when the 5160s fail

OP, your planned setup will work well for level (or slight rake). I ran that setup with Bilstein standard weight springs. I don't know that they are soft (as someone else state). They are more firm that stock and feel good IMO.

I haven’t decided yet. The standard front springs should work perfect for me. I’m thinking the wheeler t13 rear springs at 1.5 inches should work well. Did you use the b12 bilstein rear lift springs?

Got a Bilstein 6112/5160 Lift Kit. First... there is nothing wrong with it. All good, except...

I ordered the OME 898’s originally with the expectations of installing a 300lbs rear bumper. Bumper was put on hold. However, I have a winch and C4 bumper up front. The rake was BAD!

So, I put the original coils back in. But began to have a negative rake as I added gear in the cargo area. A few months later, I swapped out the originals for some 889’s, thinking it would level the rear. Well, no...I’m currently now 39.5” rear and 37” up front.

Terrible? Eh, but...

Suggestions for coil weight for the 6112’s up front (that fit over them and avoid shims) to give it a little lift? Even if it’s an inch?

Also, the future plan is to add dual battery set up and I’ve got JBA UCA’s if that helps you.
