Bilstein 6112s Knocking Sound

Had 6112s mounted on the 3rd clip for just about four months now. Put about 8,000 miles on them with about 1,000 of those miles off-road. Was out traversing 4x4 roads up in Tahoe this weekend and noticed a knocking sound emanating from the front on short abrupt hits to the front suspension. There is no noise while cycling through the suspension travel but small abrupt hits (i.e. Small rocks seem to trigger the sound). Any ideas from the folks running these or insight from the suspension gurus?

The truck has about 82,000 miles on it so work out bushings aren't out of the picture. I was working on my truck a few weeks ago and did my usual wiggle the front tires while I had her on a lift and didn't feel any play. Thanks for the help!!

Pics for clicks!

Yes, I retorque both the front and rear suspension components after any long off road outing.

Thanks Simpleman, I'm going to put her on a loft this weekend and recheck everything. I'll report back !!

I would also check the lower strut bushings and the top strut bushings as well. Sway bar links and bushings could also be contributing to the noise as well.
