Bilstein max notch or spacer

Hi everyone i have bought a bilstein kit 6112/5160 +rear icon coil(2"). I already have a daystar spacer kit on my 4runner (2.5",1.5").

Do you think is better to use the spacer in front and the first or second notch ( lowest setting) on the bilstein 6112 or removing the spacer and using the fifth notch (highest setting) on the bilstein?

Toytec kit with bilstein look to have a spacer on top, its why im wondering if its a better way to go...?

I have a 2006 se v8, no bumper,no winch only full skid and rock slider.

Thanks all!

Btw do you think the bfg ko2 34/10.5/17 can fit after this?

Ride will be softer with the spacer, preloading the spring by using the adjustable Bilstein settings will stiffen the suspension significantly when used at the higher settings

34" tires will require significant cutting (if they fit at all) and you'd want a body lift.

are you using the top hat spacer or preload spacer

Top hat spacer... seem like a good idea to keep them after all, i dont want the ride to be too stiff... like NinjaOne said

top hat spacers are fine as long as you dont wheel a lot. added down travel is not good to the cv axles

This thread isn't that old so I'm going to toss my question in here.

I have 2003 Limited with a Daystar 2.5/1.5 lift right now. Overall I'm happy with the lift but the front is sagging with at the addition of the extra weight. I have added a Budbuilt hidden winch mount and winch, group 31 battery and an ARB twin compressor mounted under the hood.

I'm wanting to replace the shocks with Bilstein adjustable 5100's and stay with the stock springs. I don't think this is will allow me to level out the Runner which i would like to so.

Does anyone see and issue with adding a top plate spacer along with the Bilsteins at the highest setting? I think the 1/4" spacers will give the extra 1/2" lift I need in the front to level everything out.

Thanks for the input.

I have my billies at 1.75 front, fj springs and daystar budget boost. Rear is 2" toytec springs and a 1.5" daystar cut down to 1". It's perfect for me!

Any particular reason you want to stay with stock coils? Seems something like OME 885s would be a good fit to add lift and compensate for the added weight. You would probably be okay with a 1/4" spacer, but anything larger can cause issues with the shocks. The spacer drops down the shock, and at full compression the shock becomes the limiting factor instead of the bump stops.

Edit: this is an issue with all spacer lifts, just more pronounced with 5100s since they have a bit more travel than stock.

Thanks S p a r k y, I'll dig into the FJ springs and see how much lift they give compared to stock 4R springs.

Thanks ARK_SWAMP_RIDER, No real reason to stay with stock other than keeping the ride. I generally try to factor my street and off-road time when doing any mod and spend more time on the road than off. I'll check out the 885's but have also heard that OME are a stiffer ride.

The fronts are only slightly stiffer than stock, it's the rears that are way too stiff unless you have significant weight added.
