sorry if this sounds like a stupid question. Is this the same 6112/5160 some of the forum members have been buying from places like toytec or wheelers?

are these adjustable?

Yes same 6112’s but....no adjustability. Same rear resi 5160’s. Valving could be a tad different if toyota had them changed but have no way of knowing this. The adjustable 6112’s cone with 600lb coils. Not exactly sure what the coils are on this kit. I had seen somewhere on fj forum they were 600lb coils... trying to find that thread.

I searched the part numbers on a Toyota parts website and it showed 600lb 14x3 springs.

Base on what plasticsnaks stated a few comments above that 600lb is adjustable.

since your search stated it was 600lb coils.. does it mean it comes with adjustable?

I am not sure what your question is? The shocks themselves have 2 spring perch mounts, one lower and one upper, this is to offset for "toyota lean" higher goes on the driver side. The springs 14" in length and 3" inner diameter to be able to fit the 2.5" shock body. 600lbs refers to the spring rate itself. Not adjustable beyond the lower and upper height settings, you'd run the same setting on both if you have KDSS.

These may be the same 6112’s that toyota uses on the 2015 Tacoma Pro. On the Tacoma’s Pro 6112/5160 kit, there are 2 clip positions for the spring perch on the 6112’s. The Tacoma kit comes preassembled with the drivers side perch clip in the upper position and passenger side in the lower position. This compensates for the “lean” which tacomas and t4rs deal with. So, the drivers side is slightly preloaded to compensate for lean.

I tried to find a good pic of these fj trd trail 6112’s so I could zoom in on the lower shock body. It looks to be the same as the Tacomas.

This is tempting and doing some research, another member did this and gained maybe 1/2-3/4" front lift. rear springs are unchanged. Also being nonadjustable, you would need to purchase the toytec spacers or new springs.

Also the only other issue I see with this, is I cannot seem to find a part# to replace a single shock. So if one blows, you need to purchase this whole kit again or so it seems(also mentioned on the forum).

If it was possible to buy a single shock I would pick this up as well, but I don't want them to be so troublesome/expensive to fix if that happens.

Lifetime warranty all around and the springs are matched to each other and I get a lot more than 1" of lift in the front. Probably won't ride as plush as the Pro's do, but should still be an improvement with reduced nose dive and less floaty feel.

What's the difference between the 6112 that you have on order vs the TRD PRO 6112? is it just the eibach 600lb springs?

6112's are very similar, but likely valved slightly different as the TRD Pro suspension is tuned specifically for Toyota, although 6112's are vehicle specific as well. They also have 7 different perches that allow you to change your ride height from .85" of lift to 2.5" of lift. They include Eibach 600lb springs as well. For example setting the driver side to 5 and the passenger side to 4, I'll achieve 1.85" of lift. TRD Pro suspension also includes Eibach springs that range between 520-600lbs depending on the vehicle as they were made for Toyota specifically. The 6112 non TRD springs are also black instead of red.

Just so I understand correctly, The TRD PRO 6112 is set to specific height without changing what perch you want. But the 6112 that you have on order allows you to pick what perches you want to change your ride height from .85-2.5?

Ride height

I think toytec has a spacer specific for the trd 6112 that is basically the spring perch so it basically adds the lift because you dont have as much adjustability or grooves to set the clip to a higher spot for more height.

I am very tempted to go ahead and get this kit and the toytec pro lift kit to get my 3" lift in front and 2" in the rear. Toytecs website says they recommend upper control arms. Anyone know if I really need them?

I was going to save up for Icon Stage 2, but this would be a much cheaper solution, unless I add UCA's. I think if that is the case, I will just keep saving.

I would get UCA’s at 3”. Even after getting those you are still getting a very nice kit and still saving lots of moola. Im shooting for the same lift height 3”. I already have spc uca’s.
