Bilstein TRD Pro suspension kit on sale PTR13-35140

Finally had a day free to install and it took a little over 5 hours with a helper and short rain delay. I went with 1.25” daystar isolators and T13 rear coils. I gained right at 2.25” up front and 1.25” in the rear. Truck rides great, no comparison to the stock suspension so no complaints here for the money. Thanks to all that contributed to this thread, cheers. Think I got one of the few remaining boxes and wouldn’t have found it without stumbling on to this forum and thread.

Update on lean and clip settings

2016 Trail KDSS. I left the clips in their factory position.

One week after installation, driver front was 5/16” higher than passenger front; this represents an increase of 1/4” over stock. Driver rear remained 1/8” higher than passenger.

Circling back to provide an update on lean and strut clip settings to those with KDSS-equipped trucks.

After several months of driving and a few hundred miles on forest service roads and mildly technical tracks I found that my driver front was measuring 3/4" higher than passenger front.

During the original installation, I had left the clips in the position they were in upon receipt of the package (driver high, passenger low). This morning, I moved the clip on the passenger strut up to the higher position. The front now sits perfectly level.

My experience supports the consensus I've seen building in this thread that when installing this suspension on KDSS-equipped trucks, the clips on the struts should be set at the same level.

PS - Now that the suspension is thoroughly broken in, I can say with certainty that it's is a giant step up from the factory Trail setup. As others have described, the on-road ride has improved greatly with less nose dive and significantly improved damping, especially over large bumps and potholes, but it's off-road where this suspension really shines.

I've noticed a much more controlled ride on trails, particularly as speeds increase over 15 mph, and absolutely no fade with prolonged driving. The suspension's ability to soak up repeated large hits is remarkable. At just over $500 shipped, this was definitely the best bang-for-the buck upgrade I've made thus far.

Could one of y’all with a 1.75-2” front lift please take a pic of CV angle so I can see it please?

Here you go. I just installed yesterday with Daystar 1.25” isolators and gained about 2.25” up front. Hope this helps.

Just installed mines and realized the passenger side top assembly was put on wrong. The washer, bushing, washer then the hex nut was put on top of the top hat assembly. It doesn’t rattle or makes weird noise yet so should be worried? The driver side was put on right the washer underneath the top hat then top hat bushing washer then hex nut. Should I be worried?

I don’t know enough about these IFS front ends to be dangerous, but I’d fix it, that’s just me. I’d be concerned that with the missing retainer not being under the top hat’s bushing would wipe that bushing out pretty quickly. That small step on the shock tower where the retainer goes might eat up the bushing in a short time because of the small contact surface.

Exactly what I was thinking the bushing will break fast with no support over it. Thank you!!

Does anyone know where I can still pick up a set of these? Pm please

ebay is probably your best bet, I believe it started out at $499 then jumped to $599 and up to $899 at this point. You can also call dealers to see if they have them in stock.

Lift in - Sorry for the dirty after photos... just got back from trying it out.

Toytec 1" TRD lower perch (plus TRD 1" increase)
Toytec 1.5" rear spacer

FR - 34 3/8" to 36 1/2" = +2 1/8"
FL - 34 1/4" to 36 1/4" = +2"

RR - 36" to 37 1/2" = +1 1/2"
RL - 36" to 37 3/8" = +1 3/8"

Also blacked out the rack.

Only issue is that the caster alignment is 1.7 deg when the range is 2.5-4.0 deg. Shop says it can't be improved - Should I be worried?

What size tires are you running? Thanks!

Toyota dealers can't get them anymore because all of their warehouse show zero stock.

That's why I bought it early early for cheap and shelved it in my garage.

Based on the price, it's one of those where you should buy right away and think later.

The system shows some random dealerships around country have a kit or two in stock. But they don’t wanna ship out of state and all that. There’s a dealer on eBay trying to buy other dealers kits and sell them. He’s up to about $750 + shipping to recoup his cost of having kits shipped to him. At $750-800, I would just get a new 6112/5160 kit for $1100

Got the wheels and tires on to complete the setup today. Can't believe how nice this thing is to drive with this suspension. Even after a few hundred miles I'm still hitting bumps and amazed how it just rolls them smooth.

Cornering is so much better too. Even just jamming around town on surface streets.

agreed I've put about a 1,000 miles on sine the new suspension and its a good improvement. I'll have to get another alignment done though but glad I did this purchase and wish I did it earlier when this thread first opened. This was an impulse purchase and was a good one at that

That's what I did, 5000 miles later and still rides great

Really not sure what to do here... I picked up the kit and would like to add spacers and springs to get a tad more lift, while retaining the rake. I always travel with 3 or more people + 100lb service dog. Have rack, ladder, sliders, fridge and often have a fair amount of camping gear in the back. I have an ORP w/ KDSS.

My concern is that the general consensus has been that T13s are great, but they sag a lot when loaded. I'd like to avoid the heavy sag. I'm looking for 1.5" - 2" lift all around (retaining rake). what would you suggest? I was looking at perhaps 2" rear coils, such as the Icon 2", and a front spacer. What size front spacer would you recommend? I also have stock wheels/tires for the foreseeable future... so hopefully the lift won't look ridiculous.

Sorry for the many questions in an already extensive thread. I've always worked to lower my cars, so I am a little lost when it comes to raising them. :yield:

I had the same concerns as you. After seeing photos of the T13 under load I didn't like the reverse rake look. Without any load the lift looks perfect. I decided to go with the Toytech 2" lift made specifically for the TRD Pro suspension. I ended up returning my T13s and I'm very happy with the stance. I actually like the mild rake but this may be a turn off to others.

Take a look at the "TRD Pro lift" thread to get an idea what the lift looks like. There are tons of photos on there.

I went with the superflex coils in the rear but others have gone with the sway-a-ways 1.5" coils that actually give you closer to 2" of lift due being a bit stiffer.
