Bimmian Xenon Interior Lighting (replacements)

one question, my 4runner is not limited so my step/courtesy bar doesn't have the light bulbs like your...is there anyway that I can have the step/courtesy lights without purchase another new step/courtesy bar?...:confused:
 
I would say probably not, The lighted steps have a chamber on each end that house the light assembly, The light assembly accepts the factory bulb using a plug similar to the headlights, in which you would push-and-turn it in.

My advise would be to find someone with a limited that took off the factory steps b/c they lifted it or something, or sell your steps and put that money towards a set of the factory ones.

ok guys....i've installed almost all the lights.

3 dome lights
2 maps lights
4 doors
4 step lights
2 liscence plate

now i have 3 bulbs left over....they're the ones that are a little longer than the dome lights. what are they for? they can't be extra dome lights because they are even longer than the bulbs i just put in.
 
I've got the three extra longer dome lights as well.

Maybe bimmian wasnt sure of sizes so they sent both sizes, that way we wouldn't get stuck with the wrong size?

What should we do with the 3 longer bulbs?

Will they fit other sockets? Different part number, so I'd expect not.

... still waiting ... must have been on the truck with all the Canadian Beer (in BC) and they were on strike!
 
Below are comparisions side-by-side. Factory on left. Bimmian on right. I don't think they are brighter, but they certainly easier on the eye and a bright white. My wife has a flu tonight and she immediately said they are easier on her eyes.

That does look really good. I was waiting to see if there was going to be a noticable difference. I guess I have to get them now.

I'm glad to hear that those of you who have gotten your lights are satisfied. As for those longer bulbs, I think it's like Rocos said...just an arbitrary size so they gave us both just to be safe. I guess there's a third size, otherwise we wouldn't have to make them work by bending the metal!!

Hey momo--there's a link burried somewhere in here for the buy-site, but you can also find it in the new special parts offers section from the main page.

I'm going to get in touch with Bimmian later this week and start working on some interesting new buys, just in case anyone is interested!! Angel eyes ARE a possibility...I might get a kit for myself to make sure it works though. Otherwise they have some amazing mirrored signal bulbs that should work nicely too, so keep your eyes on the special offers section!!

Aside from the dome bulbs being slightly larger, they're 5W rather than 8W. I changed the 2 in the center dome, but left the 8W in the rear. One reason was it's a tough one to fit (unlike the center dome) and I prefer the added wattage in the rear. Generally, that light is diabled anyway, so when I turn in on, I want all the light I can get. The center dome is only used for the kids to distract me driving, so a loer wattage is welcome there.

I have no idea what the 3 largest @ 10W are for. If I could get one of those puppies in the rear dome, that would be sweet, but it ain't gonna fit.
 
I received the set of lights today:

total : 12 small size ( 12v5w light bulbs)
3 medium size (12v5w light bulbs)
3 larger size (12v10w light bulbs)

did you guys receive the same as above.


in the installation instruction: it recommend you should detach cable from the light housing or disconnect the cable from the negative terminal of the battery....which one did you guy follow ?

I just poped them in there myself...I think that's more a liability thing in case you electrocute yourself :D
 
I changed 2 license plate bulbs, 2 reading bulbs, 4 door bulbs...I broke one bulb while changing the reading bulbs...maybe I was using too much force on my fingers...I didn't change the step/courtersy bulbs cause I don't have them...(Mine isn't the limited version)....also, I didn't change the dome's bulbs...since the stock bulb seems to be brighter than the new one...I think because the new bulb is only 5w...but the stock bulb is 8w...
