Bimmian Xenon Interior Lighting (replacements)

Hey man,

I've got tracking numbers for those that were shipped by FedEx but the ones by snail mail didn't come with that option. Let me know if you don't get them by Wednesday the 26th of May and I'll get on Bimmian about the missing order!!

You guys talked about installing 3 dome lights? I only installed 2. Where does the 3rd light go? I've got a sunroof, so would that matter?

Also, I thought that we were going to get to replace the lights on the sun visors, as well as the glove box. I think maybe that's why we have 3 longer bulbs in the package. The glove box light, though, is smaller than the map lights.

All in all, the replacements were cake, except the minor tweaking of the dome lights. Like everyone else, I wanted the domes to be a lot brighter and more blue. But, the maps and doors look pretty sick!!!

The HID's are almost ready on their end. On my end I've just been really busy since it's graduation week here at my school, but as soon as everything calms down I'll get on that biotche...I'll probably drop the word on the special parts offers section though, so look around there!!

The third dome is in the cargo area. That one is a biatch to replace since you have to bend back the tabs A LOT to get it to fit.

Yeah, I got the light in the cargo area, and the one in the passenger area behind the driver seat. That is only two, where does the third bulb go?

ricedo - do you have the rear audio option? If you do, the passenger dome light has two bulbs. It did in mine anyways. If you don't have RA, then maybe its a single bulb?

My passenger dome only has one bulb. I thought I was going crazy. Thanks for the help July.

Received these bulbs couple days ago and installed them today. Eventhough the dome lights seem a little dim, overall I am happy with them.

Anybody knows what kind of the bulbs Toyota used for the visor and the glove compartment?

It would be sweet if I can get those two lights replaced.

Sorry, forgot to finish writing on that last one...

so, I went fishing on ebay for the 194/168 bulbs which satisfy all but the dome lights. They look amazing. The brand is Aidlite. They are made in Japan, lifetime warranty. 5 pair for $10 plus $5 shipping. This isn't too bad! I'm still searching for the dome lights, DE3175, from the same manufacturer. I'll update if I find anything.. here are some more pics.

If you found where to buy the DE3175 for the dome light, let me know. I came to several local stores but I couldn't find the right xeno bulb for the dome light.

The stock bulb for the dome light is 12V 8W, and found one online. I think it is the same size as the stock bulb.

It took me a while to figure this out, but if you search ebay with "3175" and not DE3175, you get a lot more hits.

I finally ordered 3 of them (they are cheap .99 I hope they work)

They are also 10W. It should be good.. I hope that they don't give off too much heat. Anyway... ebay is the way to go.

What's the technique to remove the map light cover?

I got mine partially open but I sensed I was forcing it to much and stopped.

How do you get the cover off without breaking it?

Thanks. I got the cover off and I played around for a few minutes trying to get the bulb out but it got too dark. What a PITA trying to get your fingers on the bulb to pull it out.

I got a set of Catz bulbs for the center dome light and the map lights. The dome light is 10W and it is really nice and bright, but not hard on the eyes. Really lights up the whole back seat. I put a Rayburg halogen 8W in the cargo light overhead and it is nice as well. I havent found the 3.8W for the doors yet. I did take the assembly out and didn't look like my fingers were going to be able to pull those out either.

I'll try the string trick tomorrow and see if I can get the map lights out.

FYI - I was able to wedge the Bimmian 10W bulb in the cargo area. All it took was a little patience and a pair of needle nose pliers. :arrow:
