Bimmian Xenon Interior Lighting (replacements)

I apologize for resurrecting a seemingly dead thread---and worse yet to do it for something that is only remotely related, but here goes. . .

Does anyone know the bulb numbers for an '02? Are they the same (map light, dome light, etc.) as the 4th gens? Also, does anyone know the bulb numbers for the front bumper lights on an '02? I'm trying to replace the amber ones with a silver (glows amber) bulb but I'm not sure of the number---I could go take the bulb out but I was hoping that somebody knew off the top of their head. I appreciate any help that anyone may be able to provide.

Did you go further on this? I am interested as well. It would be awesoem if we could install the halo rings on our SUV. hehe. I had it on the M3 and it was amazing.
BTW, where did you get your borla? I am thinking about getting the exhaust. The stock one is too ugly.

A couple of my friends who own BMW's have been talking about their interior lighting mod available from www.bimmian.com . They'll send you a complete set of replacement bulbs for all of your interior lights. The before and after pictures are interesting and I think I'm going to give it a try...only problem is I have no idea what type of bulbs I need.

Bimmian will put together a custom kit for *no extra charge* as long as you supply them with the type and number of bulbs. Does anyone have an OEM repair manual that lists the interior bulbs? (everything from map lights to door pannels to dome lights to the licence plate lights)

I'd recommend you check them out though....go to www.bimmian.com and find the "Other" section from the home page title bar. From there find the "Q&A" icon and click (your mouse pointer will NOT switch to the clicky one, but the link works). There you can see their "no extra charge" quote.

Like I said, a couple of my E46-owning friends have gone ahead with this mod for their bimmers and it really looks very nice...something that's instantly noticable. They're also as far from "riced out" as one can get, so you'd be moving more towards the class, less towards the green neon underchassis lighting

Did any one ever figure out what is the correct bulb for those with the rear audio option? I don't really want to have longer bulbs bending this and that to make then fit....ANyone?

right now I take it eh DE3175 is the long incorrect bulb?

Also---I installed the Showoff Krypton Hyper White bulbs instead of the Bimmian set. The total was $34.27w/ shipping from Autotoys. They looked EXACTLY like the pictures of the set being offered in this post. Trust me...check these out. Well worth the money and a lot cheaper. I got:

1set (2 bulbs)- 12v 10w 3175 bulb for the dome lights. They get a little hotter than the stock ones, but nothing to worry about. I also had to bend the HELL out of the metal tabs to make them fit....but they do now!

3sets (2 bulbs each)- 194/168 12v 5w bulbs which I put in the doors, and the lights over the rear license plate. Super white! I kept the stock ones in the map lights just because I think it is easier to read a map and letters with the yellow-tinted stock bulbs.

total with shipping $34.27 Just a little bonus-it took about 3 days for them to get to my door.

Hey guys maybe it's just me . But I find these new 194/168 bulbs too pale or dull for my tastes? I replaced them and found the stock bulb brighter? Hmm Is there a brighter True white bulb and not one with a hue of blue in it?? these seem like they are 6000K or 7000K I want true 5000K?

Same thing with the bulbs I installed. They arent as 'warm', but that is because a yellow hued bulb (OEM) makes colors seem darker or richer.

Did you see the LED bulbs they had? They're suppose to be much brighter with almost no heat. Looks like they have them in 3175 and 194, both sizes our trucks need!

btw: what's the difference between 168 and 194? sometimes they are used interchangeably and others not..

for example:
map lights (bulb: 168/194)
step/courtesy (bulb: DE3021 or 194)

Could it be that the dome lights are DE3022, not DE3175?

look at the picture of the two, the description for the DE3175 actually says it's longer than DE3022..

Now I want to buy a Pair of LED's to see them work. I would like them to be bright on my doors. It will help with the additional light shining down on the ground.

I dont have the LED's and dont plan on buying them until someone else tries them out. I am getting short on cash to TRY new things. The Showoff Kryptons where on my dime. Someone else can try the LED's.

I went to Labadee Haiti, Ocho Rias Jamaica, and Cozumel Mexico. I was offered more weed than I though there was in the entire world! And I am a freakin cop! Funny as hell!!!!

I found the PIAA Led bulbs, but these are much more expensive. I went looking for a local shop that had then in stock to pick them up, but non-one had then in stock. They retail for $22.00 a pair!!! If I can find them, then I might as well try them, since I don't really like the xenon(blue) bulbs. I want something brighter for the doors....

hey guys, just came across this old thread as a new member here. I have a 2000 4 runner SR5 and would LOVE to change out my bulbs. My owners manual is half nawed to death by my jack russell, so how would I find out what blbs I would need for my particular rig? Thanks for any help!

One question, are these numbers for specific lights a general # that the entire industry uses? So if I ever need to replace them, I can just go to NAPA or something and they'll know what I'm talking about? Thanks again.
