Binding? in Reverse

So...I don't know exactly how to describe this, but I'll give it a shot.

When I back up, with the wheels turned (the more they are turned the more I notice it) there is a kind of binding that I hear/feel. Can't tell exactly where it is coming from, other than under the car somewhere.

I am wondering what it could be...one thing I was thinking was the drive line needs to be greased?

Any insite would be greatly appriciated!

Assuming you haven't accidentally locked the center diff, it's friction from the Torsen center diff resonating through the rear diff. Can be annoying but it's completely harmless. Changing fluids may help.

I believe it's normal because of the full time 4WD. I can feel my T4R slow down a lot at full lock slowly moving forward (U-turns), but I do not hear any noise. I will try reversing later tonight.

It's more of a feeling than a hearing anything. Like I said it is kinda hard to explain. I notice it most at slow speeds with the wheels at or almost at full lock.

I guess it couldnt hurt to change the fluid anyway...see if that helps any.

Yes, I just tried reversing at full lock. I do get slight vibration (shuttering), when giving a slight amount of gas. The vibration is not there if I let it idle in reverse. Makes 2 of us, I'll assume it's normal. I believe if you try this test on a slippery surface you will not have this issue and if this is the case it's just the limited slip diff in the front or full-time 4WD.

It happens more easily in reverse but forward is not immune. It's a very mild form of the same phenomenon that occurs with a locked center diff. Low speed, sharp steering angle. Just the nature of the beast over time as the anti-vibration gear coating in the Torsen diff wears down. Still harmless, though.
