Bizarre cargo cover problem

Has anyone run into this problem? It's a 2001 with the supposedly original cargo cover... I can't figure out how the cargo cover "shrunk" width-wise, or if my interior trim got wider...

The reason the cover is "limp" is because I tried disassembling it to see if I could shift the brackets outwards and make it wider, but I couldn't as it has holes for the screws to go into..

I know it's a lot to ask, but does anyone know how long their cargo cover is from top edge of the bracket to the other edge of the bracket?

Thanks!

I don't know how much it helps but on my 97 there are 51 3/4 inches between the two mounts for the tonneau cover. I don't actually have the cover so that's why I measured the mounts. Maybe your interior panels got pushed in or something. Maybe you could put a spacer behind one or both of them. Good luck figuring it out.

Is that the stock cargo cover? Or did you buy it? If so since you have an 01 you have to get an 01-02 cover. They are different than the 96-00 covers

Supposedly it's the stock cargo cover that came with the car. The earlier style covers had the 2 flaps that hooked into the headrest posts and also had a handle on the rear flap, so I'm pretty certain this is the original that came with the car. UNLESS the previous owner had it installed after he bought it, but he failed to mention anything like that... ANYWAYS, thanks for the replies... Gonna see if I can just use some cabinet shims to push the brackets out. Really wish there was an elegant solution to all this.

You should definitely be able to shim it easily. You may end up needing longer bolts but they aren't hard to find. Its a piece of metal that the mounts attach too so some washers should be able to push it far enough for it to attach again.

Mine does the same exsct thing. Excpet that I have a 96. I definitely have a 96-98 cover as well. I dont get it, would lpve to use it but it fals out all the time
