Black Badge Overlays

I emailed them the other day. Nox Lux is currently restocking them. I believe you can call and order yours or wait until they are put back on the website shortly.
 
Bought a set specifically for the TRD OR, and the fit was perfect. Company was Nox Lux, got them off Amazon, but the price was $150....
 
Was just about to click "buy" on eBay until I read this, and other threads, where folks have used Plasti-Dip. They made it look way to easy and for the price, think I will go that route. Guess I'm headed back to Bi-Mart. But first I need to take my foam cannon to it.
 
I dipped the front emblem, and the sides and they came out great, I have attempted the rear 3 times and every time I peel it off I get a small speck off of the 4 or one of the letters. Is there a tip or trick to not have this happen or do you do the whole area and leave it?

Time is money. Plastidip if your time has little value. My time is valuable and it took 6 minutes to install all of the overlays. Paid $80 on Amazon for them. YMMV
 
I paid 80 on amazon as well with free prime shipping... I think they are overpriced for what they are, but look and work great. No issues in car washes or using a pressure washer right on them.

ALSO... I have never had anything plasti-dipped that lasted very long. It always ends up scratching or something and shows the chrome underneath it in spots and i go ahead and remove it... For pavement princesses this is likely not an issue, but off roading several times a week and living a mile and a half from pavement gives me a 6 month life span at most on plasti-dip.

I completely removed the SR5 badges off my vehicle, and only used the front/rear emblem/4runner overlays.

So the little but of tape that is on the overlays is good? When I dipped my Xterra's wheels it lasted for years.

Yep that little bit of tape works great! I was surprised. I even used a turbo nozzle on a 3000psi pressure washer to test it the next day after install just to see if the overlays would come off. They held great. You could always add more tape or even use a silicone based adhesive if you worry about it, that was my back-up plan had they came off with the direct pressure washer. But due to their shape they kind of hug the emblems and that makes them hold even better.


And did you off-road your Xterra much? Sand, rocks, gravel, roots, and tree branches were hard on the things i plasti dipped. My 2017 tacoma had more scratches than miles too though... But the plasti dip didnt hold up well on it.
