Black fender flare swap

I am currently looking to buy a 3rd gen 4runner. I hate the look of the chrome fender trim on many of them. Does anyone know how easy and expensive it would be to swap the chrome for the black plastic fender flares. Also, where could I find the flares. Thanks.

its always tough to say how hard something is when it really depends on your skill level. either way its going to be on the easier side of things, but of course the easiest thing would be to get a limited, or SR5 model w/ the larger flares from the factory.

your local wrecking yard would be the cheapest place. You might find some on eBay. Plastic trim seems to be pretty expensive, though.

as far as oem swapping, forget about it. i am pretty handy with all the garage tools and after i had bought a set of oem limited trim gave up on the project. your best bet is to remove the sr5 flares and google bushwacker extend-a-fenders. you'll be set, make sure you put pictures up!
