Black license plate - CA only

how do you think this will look on a 3rd gen t4r?

I remember when we thought it was so cool that the "new" license plates were blue! I also remember being amazed at the soft part of the car right behind the bumpers in 73. Am I really that old? Where's my Geritol? Oh I guess you won't remember that...
 
I'm going to venture a guess here, but I'm gonna say it's gonna look like a license plate...
 
I really like the old Black/Yellow plates. I had the forum all printed out and ready to be mailed in, but I moved to CO. I would go for it.
 
Padre and bro placed an order for their '64 Austin Healey Mk3000 approx. 6months ago. It's a perfect example of gov't catering to the wishes and will of the people. Such a unique situation...

Anyway we still haven't received them but any month now! Not sure I would snag for a modern vehicle but nice for the retro enthusiast crowd.
 
These would look kind of silly on a 4Runner, since they were only on cars made in the 1960's and older. Unless someone's holding out on us and they have a 1960's 4Runner.

But yeah for the hot rodding crowd, these are awesome. Nothing ruins the look of a vintage car like having to put the new white plates on it.

I was trying to convince myself that my 15 yrs old car is 'practically' vintage!

I guess everyone can make fun of my build when I put them on. Say what you will but black plates on a black truck, I was sold the minute I heard the news.

Don't listen to media hype, it's not that bad. It's hard on the farms for sure, but there's still plenty of water in all of our reservoirs. It's more of prevention in case this drought still has a few years left before the rain comes back. State has plenty of money, since money can't buy us any water (not like NV or AZ has any water to sell us!).

Gotcha, kinda figured as much. Hell here is Az we seems we are always in a HIDDEN draught of some sorts.

Actually, in 2016...assuming the drought continues....AZ will start losing water from the Central Arizona Project so that CA can continue it's current consumption.
The big water projects are like freeways: At first, they're great, but in a few decades, they turn to s**t.

Agriculture accounts for even more than that blog. More recent figures are of all water consumed (water drawn from reservoirs and rivers, not accounting for "environmental" use) is about 90% agriculture. Then again, California alone has the 5th largest economy in the world and a lot of that has to do with our agricultural. We grow a lot of water heavy crops such as almonds and rice.

Back when we had the power shortage a 15 years or so ago we had to buy tons of power from AZ to keep the lights on. There might be some water to buy but it's not quite as easy to move it around as electricity! If the drought does go in 2016, then water conservation will get serious. This year thankfully is still just precautionary.

But anyway... this has nothing to do with license plates anymore lol.

Agriculture is 2% of the GDP on California, still a huge number when you break it down but its a bad practice.

Water could be a problem to the point it would start a war.
 
Thought I'd update this thread with the plates. Just got them in last Friday and actually look better than I anticipated. Although they are original to 60s classics, they look right at home on the truck.
