Black-out grill?

Well, I ordered a new grille. I got a black one, and am keeping the factory chrome in case I ever want to go back. I was going to color-key it green (I ordered some duplicolor that should be here soon) but then it showed up and I didn't expect the black to look so nice and polished so I had it put it on to see what it looks like.

I fumbled around for a bit in the cold trying to get the old grille off (those clips are a royal pain)... does anyone have an easy trick for doing this? After my fingers were numb, I took it to the Toyota dealer down the road and they swapped it for the new one for just over $20 (and threw in a car wash).

Now I'm not sure what to do. I kinda like it black, but am still thinking about going green. I might even tint the orange up front to clean it up a bit, especially if I leave the grille black.

Any opinions or suggestions for me?

...or how about this? I have some touch-up Dark Jade Mica I could do the Emblem with tonight. I think this might need to happen.

I painted the emblem factory matching Imperial Jade Mica Tonight. :artist2:

I am aware that this is very much not a big deal, and I understand if it's not really of 'post it on the internet and tell people about it' importance...

...but this is probably the only thing I will do to my ride, I just wanted something to make it my own, and I figured if there's any place where people may appreciate that, it is here.

Anyway, here's the emblem as it dries. I'll put it on tomorrow and post some pics of how it turns out.

Alright, I promise these are the last photos I'll subject you all to.

Here's my ride currently. The chrome grille has been replaced with a black one, and the emblem was painstakingly painted by yours truly. I really like how it turned out, and will probably leave it alone... that is until I figure out what to do with the rest of the Imperial Jade Mica I have. (maybe color-key the rest of the gold emblems too?)

Well I am lurking along checking out your pics RichardLee-I like that black out grille.

I'm preparing to do the Satoshi mod but because I have an ARB front bumper, the grille was a major pain to remove, and reinstall is going to be tricky as well.

Mind divulging where you found a 99 black grill? Uhhh yeah I see it has been five years ago....
