Black + Tint - Badges = Sweet!

What do you use to get rid of the "sticky stuff" that's left behind by the badges?

I'm thinking about doing this soon, but I don't want to mess up.

Just heat it up a slightly with a hair drier and it'll roll off with a little thumb pressure. Actually, I was able to pull most of it off once I could lift a corner of it as long as I kept it warm.

Usually the paint under the emblems looks new cuz' it hasn't weathered. You may have to polish and wax the rest of it to make the paint look the same. A lot depends on how the paint has been maintained.

Thanx. The only thing I hate more than washing mine is how bad it looks when I don't! Oh, well.

Just a random comment, but your pics seem to be really good quality. They look extremely clear and sharp. What kind of digital camera did you use for the pictures?

Thanx. Most of them were taken with an Olympus E-20N and a few were done with a Canon S400. The E-20 is a GREAT camera. Coincidentally, I've just sold it to a friend because I replaced it with a Nikon D70. The E-20 is great, but has a small buffer that slows it down sometimes while the D70 is fast as hell! You can just keep your finger on the button and it will keep shooting until you run out of memory.

I've had a bunch of digitals and the E-20 is probably the only one I'll miss, but at least it's still in the "family" and I can visit it once in a while.

Now time for some tint in the front! What percentage did you get up front?

Sorry, I don't remember. I just asked them to match the factory tint that's on the rears.

You're right, but I had the tint shop do mine to match, and (knock on wood...) no problems yet...

They'd especially be happy with my V1 sitting there, too!!!

For what it's worth, my front tint is 15% and it matches the rear perfectly from the outside, but appears darker from the inside. My tint shop said that 35% would be noticeably lighter than the rear and may look a bit strange. Pics of mine are HERE if you want to see the 15%...

It can't look stranger than having tint in the rear windows and nothing up front...

With my luck, I'll stick to a legal tint job up front.

It's illegal here in Michigan, too, but I've had mine tinted for 16 years and no problem so far, knock on wood.

It's illegal in California as well. I had no problems for over 8 years that I had some pretty dark tint on it. Then in the last year+ I had it I gave it a crazy re-tint (as the other bubbled and was under warranty). I had dark mirrored tint with blue mirrored flames over it. But, still no problems with the cops. Didn't even get pulled over once.....for anything! Maybe just luck.

I don't think it is too risky to get the front to match the back (at least here in California). I am going to get it done soon.......and I will be debadging it as well.
