Blacked out headlights

Gona try this myself. If my light has any moisture issues do I need to get some silicone or should it seal back up after heating it up. I want to do this right the 1st time. This site has givin me the confidense to try this myself as the reviews on aftermarket lights just R not that great. Thanks in advance.

It should seal with the stuff that's in there if you do it properly (as I've done 3 times), but I did a set recently the same I usually do and they didn't seal so I used silicone to seal it.

If you're worried about it leaking then I'd just go ahead and add silicone for a safeguard.

kinda sloppy, but I sealed them all around the edges with hot glue to be safe (not noticeable with lights installed)

This job is easier than I thought. Now is there anything I can do about the scratches on the headlight lens. I will post pics when all done. Thanks for all the posts on this project.

You can try and get a Meguirs headlight restoration kit and buff out the scratches, it's effect probably depends on how deep the scratches are.

If this is your first time baking the lights and putting them back together, the existing butyl should be ok to use. However, I would also add additional silicone to make sure you seal it up nice and good. It's a pain when you haven't sealed it properly and you get moisture building up a day or two after your project...especially if it's winter.

Ya 1st time doin this. Worked out nice. Used the Fusion paint. Just take your time. I kept my oven on at 250 for 8 minutes and Slowly pulled apart. Multiple light coats and let dry. When I put them together I heated up each side by themselves for a few minutes to soften them up. Pushed together and baked a little longer and pushed some more and done. The lenses are more scuffed looking or possible outer coating baked from Az sun. No yellow though. It is more visible now. I still think it lookes better than the chrome. I'll get it fixed regardless. I have to thank everyone on this site that shared there info, pics, and directions. I never would have tried this without reading every post I could find on this mod. I was gona do the Burtman lights. I guess I saved a few bucks. Compliments the LED tails that this site linked me to as well. Next is suspension/tires/wheels. Thinkin Icon and Duratracs.
