Blackstone Labs Results back

If anyone is interested, I attached my first set of results I got back from Blackstone. Toyota D3 Filter + 5W30 Royal Purple.

According to them, all is perfect! :rockon:

I did this test on my 4th oil change using Royal purple, all of them being changed at 10,000km

Like Amsoil, Royal Purple can take a serious beating from forum so called oil pundits but it is good stuff from what I have seen and hear. Does very well in heat. The formulations with the Synerlec additive are supposed to be the bees knees....

Sweet, so it looks like 10-12,000 km OCIs are perfectly ok with this engine and a decent synthetic. I'm running 8,000 km OCIs with Pennzoil Platinum 5W30 as per factory recommendation, but my Blackstone report suggested I should have no problems increasing that.

I do 7000 mile OCI with SuperTech full synthetic, and Blackstone says I can run longer than that--which I won't. I do run an oversize premium NAPA/WIX Platinum synthetic medium oil filter. See my report and that filter performs very well even in extended use. I'd rather spend $$ on filters which are not all the same rather than on oil, which are all pretty much the same for our purposes (i.e. not racing, etc.).

Note: To evaluate longer OCIs, you have to spring for a few extra bucks to get the TBN test, which measures additive health. The OP did not get that test, so you don't really know. See mine where I ran it to 9000 miles one time just to see what they would say.

Also note that the Blackstone website allows you to export an anonymous version of your report for sharing, so all that blacking (or redding) out is unnecessary.
