Blank touch screen

I have a 2015 Base Trail with Nav. Sometimes, upon startup, the radio screen is blank until I touch one of the hard buttons, home, audio, apps...I'm usually listening to AM stations or the USB drive, so I don't notice it for a few minutes. It seems to have started since I got a Samsung cell phone & "blue toothed" it to the radio. Like I said, I notice it maybe 2-3x/month. Any ideas before calling the dealership???

That has happened to mine a couple of times. Took it to the dealership for my 15k service and it was blank driving to the appointment grabbed the service writer before I turned it off to show him. Started back up and screen was there, tech couldn't find anything wrong. They offered to replace the head unit, so I took it and no issues since.

It happened again; I did the same thing you did. Took it to the Service advisor right away & the tech did an "update"??? We'll see I guess.

I've not noticed this issue, but I've experienced the Bluetooth connectivity issues w/ my iphone 6. I hate when that happens because it jams everything up including my phone because it is still "connected" to the head unit.

Ya'll just might as well get used to it. There are countless threads on this subject that cover several years and head unit software versions. Basically Toyota has a long way to go before they can resolve this issue, if they ever do.

Granted it's not an easy problem. With a variety of phone manufacturers out there that are also doing software updates it's no wonder there are phone issues. Add that to trying to connect USB's, I-pods and like devices, keep maps current etc. and these problem threads are the result.

Unfortunately these software changes are an attempt to fix issues / complaints from customers. As a result they are chasing problems and not fixing them before they happen by extensive testing.

For these reasons, I don't use much more than the radio and I'm ok with that.

Toyota is not alone either; so ditching your ride for something else probably won't help.
