Android Auto and volume control issues

I'm driving a 23 TRD Sport. When I have my phone ( Currently Samsung Galaxy 24+ ) via bluetooth or USB-C cable and play audio or video, I'm running into an issue.

If I change the volume with the dial or volume buttons on the steering wheel, Either the 4runner or my phone stop playing what I am listening to and launch Spotify and start playing what ever I was last listening to.

I've researched this for hours and can't seem to find a solution. It's frustrating to not have the ability to change volume without launching Spotify.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

You're experiencing a common issue with some Toyota and Android setups where adjusting the volume triggers media playback from Spotify, overriding whatever you were originally listening to. This usually happens because the vehicle's infotainment system sends a media command that your phone interprets as a prompt to open Spotify.
