Very cool and innovative. I enjoy seeing things that haven't been done before. You have given me some good ideas on some interior projects that I have been wanting to do.

One question: So the enclosure above the roll bar, it is not attached to the roof at all, only the roll bar, right?

I don't plan on getting a roll bar, so I wonder if it is possible to attach something directly to the roof?

Yeah i'm curious as well, and I really want to get an amp to get this running. In any case I know those 2 10's will sound nice but i'm just looking mainly to have a little thump for a change.

Man, I have been trying to figure out what to do with that extra bit of headroom above the cargo area since I bought the truck!
My idea was a low profile storage box, but this? Genius!

Yes you're right no part of the sub enclosure is attached to the headliner, those horizontal mounting brackets are the main holder for it. It's plenty strong just for the weight of the sub box.

Beats me man, I'm not sure if there's anything sturdy inside the liner to support anything with any kinda weight.

Every time I open your build I think, "this used to be a '97 4Runner." If you ever parked it next to a stock '97 and told people that it was the exact same year and model, they'd think you were smoking crack.

Drawers and sub enclosure look good. I need to build mine...

Yah she went and evolved in a real hurry I know...If I could only preserve the 4runner forever I would.

I'm just as crazy about her as everybody else with theirs.

I've got two projects done at once...sound system and storage unit....how cool is that?

My driver's side UBJ needed some attention and I thought since i'm replacing it anyway, why not upgrade? So a month ago, I got some Camburgs ordered and installed.:guitar2:

Oh poor ball joint


Got these from Wheelers


BJ being pressed out of the spindle.


And the new uniball spindle adaptor seated with the supplied snap ring in place.


Here's a good comparison shot of the uniball UCA and the factory UCA.


Everything buttoned up and torqued to specs. With the new uniball system, I gained just a little over 3/4" of wheel down travel which equates to available wheel traction out on the trails.

In preparation for our upcoming trip to Whipsaw, my buddy had me weld his 4XInnovations sliders for him.

And an obligatory pic validating that the welds are indeed legit.:biggrin2:

Recently, a friend from Calgary came to town and contacted me for a meet before they head back home the day after.

First off, congrats on winning T4R of the month! You definitely deserve it. I've finally had a chance to read through most of your build, and what I like most is the way you've approached things from a different angle. So many of these trucks basically end up looking similar to each other once they've reached that built-up stage, which doesn't detract from them, it just makes you look all the more unique.

And I agree with Hepar that if you pulled up next to a stock 3rd Gen in your truck, or just about any 3rd Gen for that matter, a casual observer would scarcely believe they're the same truck at heart.

Users like you keep this forum a lively place to visit. I'm sure you'll spawn many imitators. I guess imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. Cheers!

Thanks Rob. But did you know long before I even had the 4runner, I have been admiring yours? I honestly just keep on going back and forth looking at your 4runner hopin that one day when i finally get to own one..I'd get it to look as close to how yours look the best I could.

Oh I remember PM'ing you asking where you bought your step bar and you said Canadian Tire...I immedately rushed just to find out they were paced out.

I guess I have never owned a vehicle that I've put alot of dedication and effort to make it look unique in a sort of way, not so much to make it stand out but enough to be appreciated.

Oh I had one casual observer at the gas station waving and putting his thumb up and it was a cool gesture and all..until he finally spoke and asked.....nice truck buddy, what is that a JEEP? :rockthrow:Geezzz!

The sub install is great man, i have been trying to figure out a solution to be able to keep my 2 12" subs without them taking up all the space in the rear hatch and this would be the perfect solution so i may have to copy it well similar if u dont mind.

Need to get a roll bar first...
