Yeah I'm going big on my new one for sure. Since I decided to do a new one I figured I might as well. There's nothing wrong with the Mini H1's and I've actually liked mine a lot more since I got the new ballasts. They are perfect for a timid retrofitter or someone who just wants better than stock. I highly recommend them.



Yeah one was more than enough for me. I'm anxious to hear your impressions of the differences in bulbs when they come in. I just got my retro package today and I'm definitely nervous to start it. The FX-R's are a lot more intimidating than the Mini's, but this round will go better I hope.

Thanks again for giving me a shout out on your build. It sounds dorky, but I feel honored.

Did you Nightshade the inside or the outside of the corner lights? They look good and that was what I was going to do if I didn't get my black corners. Nice work!

XB35 bulbs are acclaimed 15-20% brighter...or so I was told. Could just be another marketing gimmick but I'd like to be on the more positive note here and believe that to be an honest advice so I got them.

I'll let you know if I see any difference in output once I get them tested out.

We'll see! As far as the corners, yeah I opened 'em up so that I could Niteshade the inside. They were surprisingly easy to pop open.

I'm sure you'll have lots of fun time doing the FX-R's. Haha retrofitters jitters!

They're durable and almost permanent once applied on. The only chemical I know of that could remove it is acetone, from my experience. So Niteshade is pretty much resilient even when subjected to abuse of some degree.

4runner is a money pit for sure, im trying my best remind myself my 4runner is for my dogs, biking, and snowboarding.

I like what you did with the clear corners too, IMO it's a necessity with the black housings. The headlights make such a big difference in aesthetics, really round out the blacked out look with your truck. Love it man!

I have the same projectors as you, but I don't think mine have the foreground limiter cutoff like yours do. Is that something they just added?

i've been good the truck not so much, got a buncha problems, upper ball joints are separating, inner and outta tie rods are done, steering rack bushing is toast, rear axle seals are leaking, rear axle bearing are cooked, all my brake lines are cracked, wheel cylinders took a dump, water pumping starting to go and its time to do timing belt in 3000 miles :toilet:

Thanks Hellamatic..I love the retrofit, and speaking of retrofit I swapped the newer XB35 bulbs in place of the standard ones, and I must say that the difference in light output is surely noticeable...not by a whole lot, but enough to distinguish the added boost of light the XB's bring. As per TRS, about 20% brighter.

They're also rated 4300k compared to the 5000k bulbs I initially had. I also took Rickashays advice and re-did the horizontal alignment to a single step-up pattern. And sure enough, the hot spots of both projectors are level with each other leaving me with a much larger and intensified lit area under the cutoffs. Thanks A!

With all of that said, here's some photos I promised of the 4 Retrofitted 4Runners...........and BIG THANKS for the votes guys..I'm indebted with everyone for this recognition............ 3rd Gens represent!

Seriously though - those are some sweet 3rd Gens. My old '97 will never aspire to this level (probably). But my '02 will some day fit in nicely. Can't wait.
